Classic trap game. I am truly nervous about this one, though the Dayton game has become less significant as they continue to pile on the loses.

Why the Fordham Rams?

Goes back to '93 ... that's 1893, when the Bronx school played football.

Student chant went "One Dam, Two Dam, Three Dam, Fordham!

Being a strict Catholic institution, administrators requested the language be cleaned up, so Dam became Ram.

And it stuck.

Here's something else ... long, long ago, the fledgling NFL Cleveland franchise was so impressed with Fordham (undefeated in '37) that it named its team the Rams.

You know that franchise now as the Los Angeles Rams.

and now you know the rest of the story

They are not bad this year. They have a crazy big line up and a guard that can score.
really - they are bad by most standards for an a-10 team - I would take a healthy Loyola of Chicago team over them most days of the week

but yeah I will agree that they are better than most of the teams we played in buy games at the Stu in the OOC schedule to use another comparison and during conference play most of losses are in that less than 10 point range - so if we allow them to control tempo it could be a 10 point game (and playing at Rose Hill Gym is a treat too with their 1000 fans on a good night)

also, don't forget they PLAYED 3 D-3 teams this year - Hard to ever remember a d1 school in a top 10 conference doing that. lots of D1 teams afraid to go into Rose Hill gym I guess (yeah tongue in cheek)

go RAMS (vcu type)

In fairness, I don't think we'd willingly play at Rose Hill if we could get away with it.

Given how not great we’ve played despite winning 5 consecutive games, would you really call this a trap game? If we were humming and Dayton wasn’t in the crapper, then it would def feel like a trap game. Instead, it feels like another matchup where we are more talented, but will probably just have to grind it out.

Mike Magpayo was a good hire. UC Riverside has been D1 since 2000-2001 and in those 25 years they’ve finished outside of the Top 200 of KenPom 19 times. Magpayo is responsible for 4 of the 6 teams that were within the Top 200. If a coach can have success at a program with minimal resources and no history, then they are a plus in my book. Fordham is certainly a challenge, but I’m intrigued to see if he can make them respectable.
