The Official Beat the Fordham Rams in the Bronx Thread

Quick question. Have we just abandoned the black and gold away jerseys? Seems like every road game we are black and white (reminds me of Providence college). To me the black and gold (well really yellow) looks so much better.
We haven't worn black and gold jerseys the past 2 seasons. We do have a gold and black jersey that we wear at home sometimes. Not likely to change this season. Maybe next year.

That’s kind of what happened in 2017-2018. Fought Marquette (NIT team), Michigan (Natty Champ appearance), UVA (NCAA 1 seed), and Texas (NCAA 10 seed) all hard despite losing to all of those teams. We got waxed by Seton Hall (NCAA 8 seed) though.

And then in conference play we fought with fire despite a 6-3 start and then went 3-6 down the stretch with two absolute choke jobs at Richmond and vs Mason that dropped us to a 9-9 in conference play.

This team is much deeper and has more talent, but something just isn’t there. It’s Feb 3rd so I’m not convinced it’ll ever click!
I don't think this will be a team that builds a comfortable lead from the start and wins every game by 20 - 25 points but we are winning. It is much better to learn while you are winning than learning from a loss.

This is where analytics ruins the game of basketball.

Conference games will be rock fights and won't be pretty statistically because every team in the league has scouted each other by this point in the season.

A win is a win and a road win is gold.

Conferences games should count more than out of conference games in the formula for this reason alone.

Wards turnovers had little no impact. He had 2 of his 5 in the last 8-9 minutes of the game. Fordham didnt score on either of them and VCU got the ball back on rebound or turn over.

He was 3-4 from the field he ad 4 rebounds and 1 assist. Yes we have to work on those turnovers. However, they in no way were a primary reason that game was so close.
The turnovers do matter a great deal. It takes potential points off of the board for us. Look at several of our turnovers in the first half. We were on the break and turned it over. Those are relatively easy points for us that come off the board. Just because a team doesn't score off the turnovers doesn't mean they don't matter.

We had black and gold jerseys last year we wore on the road. They were great looking.

I agree that the team lacks focus, attention to detail, and a killer instinct (and a team leader, I might add). But wearing the same outfit six, seven hours earlier does not address those issues.
I'd have to disagree with you. At some point you should take pride in wearing those colors. It definitely goes to attention to detail

I can hope but I can only go by what I see. Our lack of focus is a real issue that burned us earlier this year and we’re playing with fire a lot. All of Ramnation will be filling waiting rooms for cardiology appointments pretty soon the way we’re going.
Well, regardless of how close the games were or how well or poorly we looked, so far we've won every game this season that we were suppose to win. We have to prove we can step up and win the big games, something we haven't done enough of so far this season.

Edit: we should've beat New Mexico at home.

This has been my pet peeve for years starting with the season we wore gray uniforms. All of our best uniforms contained black, gold and white. ALL THREE! I agree with you 100%. I don't care what the latest style or trend is.

Then it's like that for all teams and it's a wash. Everyone is playing conference games now.

OOC? yes
A10? Nope

Just Win...conference play is conference play....like Finance said...They don't say How? They say How Many?

currently, that number is 8-2
It matters for net ranking. You aren’t impressing the committee slipping by 200-300 net ranked teams. If only caring about the A10 standings/seeding only then I guess yeah winning is the only thing that matters.
