I guess the point is once the at-large bid is off the table the OOC game results aren't that important. It matters for net ranking. You aren’t impressing the committee slipping by 200-300 net ranked teams. If only caring about the A10 standings/seeding only then I guess yeah winning is the only thing that matters.
Show me the (black &) gold! I want the gold!
Off the top of my head with this streak of wins I would say winning on the road at Rhody and at Davidson are solid wins while beating a hot St Joe's team at the Stu are the ones to be proud of. Agreed that VCU should have won the last six and they did. Last night was a grind because the team struggled from the line. 17 of 28 is not something we want to see so it made it a bit tighter than it should have been. Hill had an off night and he was having trouble getting the offense going while running point. Onward to Friday and I still hope this team can get rolling but winning ugly will be fine too.So the competition doesn’t matter?
LolI'd have to disagree with you. At some point you should take pride in wearing those colors. It definitely goes to attention to detail
Right. Held a lead on the road for the win despite playing poorly (Inside defense was better : ).Off the top of my head with this streak of wins I would say winning on the road at Rhody and at Davidson are solid wins while beating a hot St Joe's team at the Stu are the ones to be proud of. We don't control this part of the schedule. You have to win the games in front of you. They all count the same in the conference standings. So the competition doesn’t matter?
Numbers wise those wins against Rhode Island and Davidson are worth more than Dayton on Friday. Of course I would like to win that one as well. We are just used to Dayton being better than they are this season. Some people are never going to give us any credit for anything we do though. They just keep moving the goal posts.Off the top of my head with this streak of wins I would say winning on the road at Rhody and at Davidson are solid wins while beating a hot St Joe's team at the Stu are the ones to be proud of. For sure! I've accepted what they are and I'm hopeful it can get even just a notch better. I'm honestly surprised we haven't had a complete dud loss to a mid-to-bad team, but hey its February 4th and that hasn't happened and we're still winning a lot more than we are losing!I don't think this will be a team that builds a comfortable lead from the start and wins every game by 20 - 25 points but we are winning. It is much better to learn while you are winning than learning from a loss.
We definitely lost some that we could have won but we have also won several that we could have lost. You have to take the good with the bad and I will take it at this point. Nothing spectacular boosting us up but nothing weighing us down either. For sure! I've accepted what they are and I'm hopeful it can get even just a notch better. As I stated earllier his turnovers were largely benign. One was on a questionable out of bounds. The other four the opposing team didnt score. The turnovers do matter a great deal. It takes potential points off of the board for us. Look at several of our turnovers in the first half. We were on the break and turned it over. Those are relatively easy points for us that come off the board. Just because a team doesn't score off the turnovers doesn't mean they don't matter.
Those things matter - to you. That’s detail. You should be a team and rep the school you play for. You should be a cohesive unit. It might not seem like much. Great teams pay attention to the little things. Those things matter.
