The Official Beat the George Mason Patriots in Fairfax Thread

Anyone who has played knows good defense is much much harder to play than offense strictly from an effort standpoint. It’s all about digging deep and being tough when it is exhausting. I’ll leave it at that.
Defense and passing. Good offense needs passing.

VCU has played St. Bonaventure (11-5), Duquesne (9-7), SLU (14-1) and fmason (16-1) in A-10 play. Who else in the A-10 has started with that strong of a conference schedule? Get back to me after the next 6 games that VCU has.
Bona loss to UR (handily) and Fordham at home since our game

Duq- 1-2 in conference and was losing to CAA teams out of conference

SLU- The record looks cool until you look at the teams. They beat up a bunch of low mid majors and what D2/D3? Cool

GMU- Mason beat Fordham in NY who beat Bona today on the road. The best win of ours that we wrecked beat them by 10.

We didn’t face some guantlet of doom.

The only positive about this game was the Lazar dunk. Unfortunately it will be quickly forgotten due to the results.

That was exactly my point i was making on the radio guys. Comment after the game is what a tough schedule we've played so far in conference and that's not true at all. It's been a representative schedule.

Instead of talking about what we can do to get better, analyzing things, we get fed an irrational spin.

And what is SLU's NET Ranking? #24 coming into today. And if you think fmason is a bad team, then you need to go take off your rose colored glasses. Regardless who they have played , they are still 16-1 with their only loss to VA Tech at Tech. How about giving other teams credit where credit is due and let the season play out.

I was at the game today and it didn't appear to me we tried to do anything on defense. Their bigs dominated, and we couldn't stop them in the paint. There were numerous uncontested drives into the lane by Mason leading to easy buckets.
I can't believe I am saying this but Fermin might have helped some on defense this year. We have no rim protection and get abused in the paint. All these other teams find capable bigs. We need someone who can help when Lazar inevitably lays down on the floor and needs to come out for five minutes every game.

I am loving what I am seeing from Belle this year as he's taken a massive leap. His confidence is back and he's knocking down shots and attacking. Asking him to play the post isn't fair and we've leaned on him at times.

Nyk was leading rebounder before game was decided…I was following game stats.

It was a joke. The poster was making light of his 10 points happening after the game was decided. Nyk is our new "Nyk at Night". And that reference for you young bucks is to Nick George. Look him up.

Someone please tell why Evans got 34 minutes in the SLU game and 33 today? Is it his great effort or awesome defense?

3 points, 2 rebounds.

Start with him, then work on the rest.
Because he agreed to transfer to VCU when Martelli took the job. Pretty obvious ImO.
Would have only played 15-20 minutes on last years team
