Bona loss to UR (handily) and Fordham at home since our game

Duq- 1-2 in conference and was losing to CAA teams out of conference

SLU- The record looks cool until you look at the teams. They beat up a bunch of low mid majors and what D2/D3? Cool

GMU- Mason beat Fordham in NY who beat Bona today on the road. The best win of ours that we wrecked beat them by 10.

We didn’t face some guantlet of doom.

Yeh my thoughts well. We best a Bona team that lost to Richmond. And that required a Herculean effort by Brandon to avoid that loss. GMU has besten nobody really. Our team this year reminds a lot of Rhoades first year. First half of the season we lost a lot of close games on significant comebacks by us. The difference is that team was playing way above their heads. This team has more talent. However, we have not gotten any better since the beginning of the year. The way we tried dribbling the ball into crowds at the beginning of the game highlighted that to me. Looked no different on offense then we did in thebfirst half against Utah State or Vandy.

Exactly! If anything, our schedule has been unremarkable outside of a fortunate draw in a tournament with one decent to solid and one very good game.

I can't believe I am saying this but Fermin might have helped some on defense this year. We have no rim protection and get abused in the paint. All these other teams find capable bigs. We need someone who can help when Lazar inevitably lays down on the floor and needs to come out for five minutes every game.

Exactly. Each team we lost to we couldn’t get stops. Lesser opponents we beat with our depth and pace. Only reason we got stops against the Bonnie’s last 5 min was because the fans willed it on the defensive end, standing on their feet and screaming each possession. Otherwise we didn't show the D to beat them at home. This group (staff/players) just doesn’t feel like they have the hunger and pride to play D.

We’re half way through the season and still trying to discover our D. I don’t see us making a jump on D quick enough to get a 10 game win streak, so our season will once again come down to winning the A10 conf.tournament. Hard to imagine right now this team getting an at large.

I agree. I don't see any of these teams seperating from the pack this year. I was at the game today and our flaws can be corrected. Having said that we're going to have our way with Mason in the Stu. Book it!

You still have to recruit and build relationships. Pretty sure Nyk Lewis is not here just because of a cash grab. Also Brandon Jennings and Michael Belle could have bolted for greener pastures.

OK, that's a great example of my question about Martelli and timeouts. We just went on a 4-0 run to take the lead and he calls a timeout after a made basket? Why? I thought GMU had called the timeout because I can only see the positive of a timeout for GMU there, to get reset. Love some insight if y'all have any.

I couldn't believe it either. 9:22 left in the game, the VCU fans were starting to make noise, Jennings was in foul trouble and he didn't even sub him or anyone out. Wasted our second timeout when we had momentum with a media timeout coming soon. Bizarre moment in the game.
