The Official Beat the George Mason Patriots in Fairfax Thread

With the ODU rivalry only a fading memory, Mason now ranks as "the school most like VCU" on the Rams' slate.

So similar in so many ways.

Except one ... basketball attendance.

Rams could play a winless junior college at 2 a.m. on a snowy night in the middle of a leprosy epidemic and pack The Stu.

Mason's turnstiles don't spin so easily.

VCU is second in A10 attendance with an average crowd of 7,597, with numerous sellouts. Mason's average is 3,409 with empty seats out-numbering those occupied.

Saturday's game is the bold-letter event on the Patriots' schedule.

If the game was at VCU, all roads filled with giddy ticketholders would lead to The Stu.

In the meantime, we'll see how this High Noon shootout goes in Fairfax ...

Sorry, I forgot something - media coverage.

in the last six days VCU hoops has received something like 120 column inches of ink, courtesy of Zach Joachim.

Today's story was so long I had to put a book marker on the jump page, eat breakfast, feed the cats, take my pills, and come back later for the finish.

By comparison, looked at Washington Post today, online, and found nothing.

Too small a sample size, I concur, but you get the idea ...

Can’t make it up 95 today but will be at Hometeam Grill cheering on our Rams. Expect to hear some VCU chants through the TV as we silent GMU with our outstanding play.
Let’s get out quick and keep our foot on the gas throughout the entire 40 mins. Go Rams!
