The Official Beat the Miami Hurricanes in Charleston Thread

Yeah, 2-0 vs the ACC. 3-0 counting the "secret" scrimmage. BC doesn't seem to be very good, but could surprise and win a few in the ACC. Miami has the players to be competitive if not a contender. Hopefully these wins will look better and better as the season progresses. Though the ACC certainly "ain't what it used to be."
The good thing about beating ACC schools is that even if they don't look very good right now if they do improve as the season progresses they have plenty of opportunities to show it in conference play.

Yes Templeton. He does a great job with the pod. It was just that one that was a bit extreme and not as good as the Foreman grill.

And thank you Steve for producing the pod. Ya'll are very informative.
I listened for the first and last time over the weekend. The episode after the Seton Hall game. The guy goes just a *tad* overboard. I'm going to guess he rarely, if ever, has anyone from the program on as a guest.

yeah, both of these games can end up being good quality wins for us. I think Miami is likely to. Coach L will get some things figured out there. BC still isn't good, but they haven't been looking as awful as they did against us. A 25 point win against them is at least going to be good for our analytics.

To be fair, the game recaps are recorded immediately after the game, so there are a lot of emotions involved, especially after losses. Those episodes can be dramatic, but you just got to look at the message as opposed to the delivery, because his takes are usually valid.

Overall it's a solid podcast though! Personally, I wish there were more true basketball minds featured, but most fans can't comprehend real basketball talk lol got to cater to your audience

skram is right -- since he does them immediately after the game, it's really a reaction podcast. Sometimes he gets a little upset :D.

We do sometimes have guests, too. Rocco Miller and Zach Joachim have both been on the show multiple times, and George interviewed Ryan Odom shortly after he became head coach. We tried to get Odom for this offseason too but it didn't work out on our end -- the team was willing. We also TRY every offseason to get some kind of expert interview about our newly-signed players, like a former coach or a reporter from their area. George has been having some computer issues, unfortunately, which has curtailed our interview abilities for the short term.

Hey SK - I think your point about pod being recorded right after the game is valid and a fair comment {many emotions for sure}; however, - to be fair - it is stated on the pod and expected that our 19 to 25yo players keep their composure during the game (which is much more stressful). We can't say that on the pod and expect that from our players when practically the whole pod is a rant of displeasure. I have only heard one pod that was a rant like this one. George is usually right on it with content and analysis like you are saying here. [75% from 3 and close to 100% inside the arc]. I look forward to hearing many more pods in the future.

Keep up the great work MR. T. I enjoy hearing your thoughts on the pod and the negative has its place too.

Yup. Every ACC team last season except Louisville was in the top 127 of the NET, meaning an away game against one of them would be Q2 (under 135). I'm pretty sure most of the ACC this year will be in the same range (and Louisville will get to play along too).

neutral court Quad 2 floor is 100 (51-100)

Miami may end up a 2, BC probably a 3 but possibly a 2

You might want to check BC's record now. BC is now 5-1 and playing Boise State today in the Cayman Islands Classic championship. BC beating Boise State today would be a big win for them and help out VCU's NET rating.

while I hope BC does well, their OOC is not that strong so until they beat Boise St or South Carolina and some ACC teams not sure if they move to the good side of 100 in NET
to date home games and wins vs
Citadel, Loyola md, Temple (kenpom 119) , ODU, neutral site OT win in MTE vs Missouri st (kenpom 152 currently) (and neutral site loss to VCU)

still to come Dartmouth, Stonehill and Farleigh Dickinson and SEC challenge vs South Carolina (kenpom 80) all at home
overall 6 home games vs teams with Kenpom rankings of 320 or worse (bottom 10%)

since NET not available until early Dec I used Kenpom as proxy of NET , though it doesn't measure all the same things

go Eagles and more importantly Go Rams

We have played 7 games thus far. Fermin hs fouled out twice. Yesterday in 7 minutes Today after 23 minutes which is just over his average.

Stop hating on Ferm he played a solid game and he caught about 2 tricky take fouls.
Nobody hates Ferm. It’s just a reality that until he improves he’s a “bottom third” of the A10 big man. He’s got to improve or our season looks very limited.
