If he does this, we might not field a team of five players at times on the court.

Belle
Nyk

Hill (even if he misses assignments we’ll need him)

In A10 play only, Rams opponents are hitting .504 from the field. That's too high.

Do you think Fermin, having displayed a strong defensive presence in the past, could help?

Anyone know the former two-year starter's status?

Here's a though about D and the transfer portal ...

Portal movement is based overwhelming on offensive production.

You hear a kid has averaged 15.9 the previous year, you want him

You hear he plays strong perimeter defense but doesn't score much, you pass.

I'm not saying that applies to VCU's numerous newcomers, but I believe it is a factor nationwide.

Sure, and Larry Sanders could help us out as well but neither one of them are on the team.
 
Mason shot 60% in the second half with scoring 9/10 trips. I’m sorry but find someone to put on staff that can coach defense if none can. Shocking here at VCU to have such poor defense at a program that prides itself on it. We actually can’t stop teams from scoring. If URI lights us up even if we win I don’t even know to say then. I don’t care if you gotta play a bunch of zones. Make a stop.

I just checked - Ren Watson isn't eligible, either .... nor L.F. Likcholitov ... same with George Byrd.

But there is a major difference.

Just observed the VCU roster and Fermin is on the list.

Where is he? Too late to comeback?

Zach Joachim does a very good job of writing endless copy about Ramball ... but he strays from anything (Fermin, Ward, Salaries, Buy Games) he thinks the coaches/administrators don't want to talk about.

That's bright on his part ... so someone else tell us about Fermin.

Whenever the VCU Rams are playing the Rhode Island Rams, it would be appropriate to reflect on the late Ed Allen.

A star athlete himself in Kingston, the 6-2, square-jawed, wiry strong Ed came to VCU (then RPI) in 1950.

He was AD from 1950 to '73.

Basketball coach 1950 to '68

Baseball coach 1950 to '75.

Also served as Phys-Ed teacher.

In 1963, he was most responsible for school's nickname changing from Green Devils to his college moniker, Rams.

Ed recruited and coached the Rams' first Black player, Charles McLeod, from Matoaca, and first inner-city Black, Don Ross.

Also landed the Rams' all-time scorer, Len Creech.

Elected to VCU Hall of Fame in '89.

Call this Wednesday' game the Ed Allen Celebration Classic.

He left the team in November and I believe the update is that he is still gone.

Christian logged 1,574 minutes for the Rams, contributing to endless victories.

Perhaps a little more detail would be appropriate regarding his "vanishing." Those who cheered for him might 111like to know.

Did he join the Navy ... French Foreign Legion ... land a job at Philip Morris .... or transfer to another school?

No shame in any of that.

Next week, or whenever the spring semester starts, should give us more clarity regarding Fermin. If he is not enrolled for the spring semester, he should be deleted from the current roster.

He’s now been gone from the team a month and a half. Even if he were to come back, which is highly unlikely, he would not be in playing shape for a good while. My guess is that ship has sailed.

I'm not sure that's information we'll be given, though.

He quit..he is gone ….and he wouldn’t be a deference maker
