The Official Beat the Saint Louis Billikens in Missouri Thread

True, you certainly can't wait for security. Speaking of which, do we still have the red and green signs to stop the aisle walkers? I haven't seen them for a while or am just not paying attention.
Certainly not the security they had at STL…

They are indeed still a thing.
Ha. I never turn around at the games or get up during the games to see them. I'm also out of section 2 which was the aisle walkers aisle for sure.

After a couple pregame beers, there’s no way I can make it through a game without getting up.

One option would be to alert security of the situation before getting to a point of escalation. Then they would have at least have time to deploy the red and green signs.

Who knows, I could get into a brawl tomorrow. I'm good as long as I come out on top.

I would agree that anyone who instigates a fight is but there may be a time where a man has to physically protect his family.
Absolutely. Look I’m not gonna go looking for a fight but if someone is physically threatening me I’m neutralizing that threat until proper authorities come. If that means putting someone in a choke hold so be it. If Phil’s mom started it than shame on her and I hope VCU addresses it. If SLU started it than I see no issue with defending herself. If it was mutually instigated than shame on both. Either way it’s embarrassing for both universities that you get into a full out brawl on national tv over a game that was pretty much over anyway. You embarrassed yourselves, the universities, and the conference. Stupid and selfish actions.

Why? You don't know what was said to anyone to cause it. It would be a double technical because SLU and VCU fans were in involved.
OK, so call both teams. I'm good with that and I don't really care who said what. I can somehow manage not to be baited by words. It's really not that difficult. We like to beat on fan bases like SBU for stuff like this ad nauseum. It sure looked a whole lot like Olean out there.

Embarrassing when the sum total of our team's national exposure this season is this.

A lot of interesting takes on the topic. Certainly a good representation of every day life and points of view.
I don’t condone starting a fight but have no issue with ending one.

Rhetorical question. If a balloon pops when being filled with at, is it the fault of the balloon for no being made stronger or the fault of the person putting the air in 🤔

A shot to the head usually kills a walker but the noise also brings more
..you don't want a herd invading the stu on game day and eating the vcu fanbase.

Are you sure Russell's mom was innocent?

That seems to show involvement but not innocence or guilt. No one would have been filming when the incident started because there wasn't anything to film yet. It took way too long to get resolved but as far as fights go it was pretty mild from what I saw on television. Not something you want to happen again but I doubt if there were any injuries or charges. Everyone moves on with their lives and hopefully learned a little something from it.

Maybe for their next game St. Louis will have red and green signs for massive brawls in the stands. That could have put a stop to the whole thing.

My take on the altercation, is that we should wait to see what our AD and/or police have to say. Pictures dependant upon when they are captured, may not tell the entire story.

I get it Russell does something’s on the court that may be questionable. However, to state “I see where he gets it” is disrespectful to both the player and his family. Quite frankly that type of jumping to conclusions is unacceptable and quite frankly sad.

Unless you were there from start to finish, we should all reserve judgement. I can tell you that sometimes the families take a lot of abuse. The type that would set off MLK. I was at St. Joes recently and three fans had to be removed based on the things they were yelling at our players and their families. Good thing is that this time they were behind the basket and the families were behind our bench.

Not condoning violence but I can see where maybe the cumulative effects took its toll. Also, maybe the guy said or insinuated something that Russell’s family could not tolerate. St. Louis like Philly has tough fans, and if you add in the social component the wrong things have been said.

Again, not condoning violence but we should reserve judgement until a full investigation is conducted. That is unless you were sitting there from start to finish.

One of the Pro NIL arguments is the players are receiving "life changing money" to support families.

All these transfers including Phil are professional athletes with sports agents who negotiated six figure contracts to play for VCU and support their immediate family members.

If I am Ed Mcglaughlin..I would insert a "Good Behavior" clause within these contracts which allows VCU to withhold NIL funds or fine when players, their family members or accompanying guests attend games and participate in this type of behavior.
