The Official Beat the St. Mary's College of Maryland Seahawks in the Stu Thread

I recognize that the exhibition is a tune-up and nearly always a blow-out (shout out to Queen College in the Will Wade years, though) but it seems to me like playing a D3 is a waste of time. May as well schedule John Marshall High School. You might get a better game.
No good reason to not play either VaState or VaUnion every year …better crowd …good for all involved

I assume coach of St Mary's is a friend of Odom's from the days in Maryland at UMBC. They played UMBC one year in a regular season game - UMBC often played D3 schools (one or two most years)

will be the highlight of the year for the St Mary's team to say they played us albeit a scrimmage

As Odom repeated today, the D3 exhibition was selected precisely because it would have no impact on out stats. It is a glorified practice and an opportunity to get run for guys who might get fewer minutes once things get real. Think of it as a second B&G game, but against someone other than the guys they see in practice

am I missing something - exhibitions never count in stats whether against a D1, D2 or D3 school

regular season D3 games played do not get considered in stats considered for NET and most other metrics nor do d2 games

as far as glorified practice - yeah I understand that and getting the end of our bench more run too! personally the last exhibition I went to was Liberty (yeah we lost) and before that Va State -

like other posters I think it makes more sense to play a more local school better D3s are RMC, Hampden Sydney or Christopher Newport (all 3 perennial top 15 teams recently) D2s Va union or Va State all make more sense But Odom is the coach , and I really think he is doing this because he is friends with the St Mary's coach

go rams

Last year I payed an arm and a leg to get tickets to the exhibition game. Watched Obi hurt his leg attempting windmill dunks in the warmup line. Stuffed himself on the rim just short and fell awkwardly...tore his ACL.

The crowd was sparse...to say the least. I like to sit in decent seats, think season ticket seats, what is the best way to get some at a reasonable rate without dealing with stubhub, etc? Does the box office sell anything other than corner seats?

Anyone have two that they are not going to use?

I think he was talking about the D2 regular season game against Elizabeth City and how that would have no impact, well at least one of the radio show guys was saying that today. Exhibitions never count as anything anyway.

there are good seats available on stub and seat geek.

If we wanted to play D3 level for exhibition, we might as well schedule ODU.
