The Official Beat the St. Mary's College of Maryland Seahawks in the Stu Thread

Ok…. I’m on my way home from Miami today.

I know last night was just an exhibition against a D3 school….

I saw some of the stats and a few high light plays on Twitter/X ….. but for those of you that were there….

Lemme know what yall saw. How we looking? Positives? Negatives/concerns?

Who stood out and what not?

What you think the starting 5 will be?

Anything.

Max was chilling, Joe did what Joe does, Phil can fill it up (we knew this but pointing it out bc he was 0/9 in B&G) and brings that "hardnose" intensity we all appreciate from our guards, Jack Clark is going to do a little bit of everything, Ferm was killing on the glass but take it with a grain of salt because it's a D3 team. But basically, all those guys did exactly what most of us expected. Now for the rest.

Fats: Despite what others said, to me it looks like he put on some muscle. He's just so lanky with a slight frame, it's not going to look drastic. He looked much more confident on the court and decisive on what he was going to do when he got the ball. Jumper still looks good, hopefully we'll see signs of him turning into the player we've been hoping for

Belle: Picked up where he left off last year, defensively. Offensively he still needs a lot of work. Right now it's looking like the only way he's going to score is hustle plays on OReb, and straight line drives to the basket. Needs to work on change of pace on drives and using his body to create some more space to finish at the rim. Jump shot mechanics look a little better but doesn't look confident.

Hill: He's going the be the JeQuan to Jennings' Briante when they're upperclassmen. Crafty scorer and has the right hand-right foot layup down pat already.

Jennings: His wingspan and IQ are going to allow him to make an impact defensively early. Offensively, he'll be able to manufacture some points for himself (OReb, FT's, etc.) if his shot isn't falling. He has the demeanor and IQ to be a solid PG, just needs to work on varying his passes on PnR. No worries that it'll happen, but so far I've only seen bullet chest passes for the most part.

Bamgboye: He's going to be a project so expect growing pains. Doesn't move well and is all over the place. This is typical for bigs who dominated HS off their size, but we'll have to be patient. I think we'll need Ferm log heavier minutes than anticipated.

Obi: Good to see him score! Minimal minutes for the season as anticipated

Zeb: DNP (Quad, precautionary)

Carrere: Wasn't dressed out, not sure if it's because of injury but I'm guessing he'll redshirt

Did Belle actually have a Euro for an &1 as Robby described? Always consider the level of competition (I remember Mike Gilmore hit on in the B&G his sophomore year that had me convinced he'd put it all together), but hearing that was encouraging in the same way seeing 11 turnovers in the box was.

He did. Belle dribbled it up quite a bit last night as well.
