The Official Larry Sanders NBA thread

Larry should have a very good rookie year. Playing off Bogut he should have a great deal of weak side block attempts. If he can stay out of foul trouble he could get two or three a game. Also, I think Larry plays better/looser when he doesnt have to be the main guy.

Not confirmed, but looks like Sir Lawrence might be wearing No. 99 for the Buckaroos ... that's going from one extreme (1, at VCU) to another (99) ...

No. 1 is unavailable because it was retired in honor of The Big O, Oscar Robertson. Strange situation, there. Robertson is the greatest statistical perimeter player of all time (25.7 ppg, 9.5 rpg, 7.5 ast per game, for career, better than Magic, Jordan, Bryant, etc.).

However, His O'ness only played the final four of his 14 seasons in Wisconsin. Robertson's No. 14 with Cincy Royals (now Sacramento Kings) was also retired ... a rare situation where a pro athlete has jersey retired by two organizations.

Topping Robertson is Wilt Chamberlain, who had his No. 13 retired by the Harlem Globetrotters, Los Angeles Lakers, Philadelphia 76ers and Philadelphia/Golden State Warriors. His No. 13 is also retired at Kansas ... but the Jayhawks waited until 1998. Chamberlain left KU (a year early) following the '57 season in which the Jayhawks lost to UNC in triple OT in the NCAA finals.

Unofficial BangWin for the placement of the word "looser". This thread will never die and thus. :D

Congrats Larry...but i have been wondering....

When the Thunder play the Bucks and Eric comes down the lane....does he hit the floater or does Larry get the block?

More importantly on RN who will side with which team when the two face each other? :)

(Growing up in DC and being a Wizards fan as result makes the situation interesting. I might end up with a J Wall-Wizards,Maynor-Thunder, and LS1-Bucks jersey in the same closet  awkward. Watching a exciting young team like OKC last year when the Wizards were in shambles was definitely fun. Especially during playoff time.)

Larry will be wearing #8.

KentuckyRam - thanks for posting that story, excellent piece of writing.

In three years the RTD never came close in penning a story like this on Larry.

Hey, "I'm open!!"

That's friggin' funny. Larry's the best.

Gooden:A mentor for Larry - he doesn't have much game left in his tank.

I always thought Drew was better than he showed in the NBA. Given that you think he doesnt have much left( I disagree), does anyone think Larry can get significant minutes with this guy on the team?
