Players The Official Reco McCarter Thread

the Camels went up against our old friends, UNCW... boxscore says Reco played 10 min, no points on 0-1 shooting, with 1 rebound, 1 foul, and a 2-1 assist to turnover ratio (also, total numbers)

Campbell gets the W

Reco with 39 minutes, 5 points, 7assists, 9 rebounds in a 3OT Campbell win.

Man, in hindsight how over-hyped was I about Reco? Talk about a swing and a miss.

He's such a nice guy though, I hope he has a decent career there and gets a great education. He deserves to be successful in life. He has a great attitude.

...but he sure as heck isn't the basketball player he looked like he was going to be coming out of high school.

:!:

Big ol' miss! Losing a player the way we lost Reco isn't the end of the world though. He just didn't pan out. Like you said he is a nice guy though and has a good attitude. It wasn't a poison the team/get kicked off half way through the season type thing. Plus how awesome is a fighting camel!

Reco was almost as hyped as GJ Vilarino....remember that guy from the Joey to Rollins soap opera of horribleness????

The Mountaineers lost backup point guard G.J. Vilarino, who left the program for personal reasons, returned home and isn't playing anywhere this season, Capel said.

Yeah I remember GJ's dad coming on here talking about how good his son was and how lucky either us or Gonzaga would be to get him. Kentucky had no idea what they were doing, and GJ was the real deal despite him plummetting in every recruiting ranking before he was asked to decommit. LOL

I think his handle was Memorial80 or something like that. He was pretty toolish. I'm sure he's been served some humble pie since his son washed out at Gonzaga and then Appalachian State in very short order.

It just goes to show how much rankings can be misleading and how ridicuous basketball parents can be.

I like Reco, and I hope he has a great career down there in Bouie's Creek. Good kid. He just doesn't seem to have a real big "basketball I-Q." Too much going on for him in a scheme like we employ. He wants to run, jump, shoot the 3, etc. But more free-style, and not in a complicated system. That's what it looks like. I saw him play in probably 2 games on TV, earlier in the year, and the guy looked GOOD! But then, later in the year, he has games where you just scratch your head. Hopefully now, he gets consistency.

I'll second that and say that despite the frenetic helter skelter style we appear to play, it takes a great deal of discipline to play in Shaka's system.

First year was a so so year for Reco. I expected him to do a little better given the fact of him being here and experiencing what it took to become a FF team. Oh well sometimes things are not always what they appear to be. Shaka aparently knew something.:ugeek::ugeek::ugeek:
