The Official Sink the La Salle Explorers in the Stu Thread

last 2 games we had bench points of 46 and 39. I know they were blowouts but that’s incredible. Love our depth this year. We have 2 guys at the end of our bench in Billups and Hill that are A10 level starters. I love Hills game and I pray he comes back next year ( along with Odom of course)

I think Hill very possibly can be an A-10 starter down the road. I am not convinced Billups has that potential. This is his third year at VCU (freshman year redshirt year) and he has yet to make that jump to validate more playing time than he is getting this year. And FYI, his minutes the last two games came in 41 point and 30 point blowouts.

I really think Hill is going to be a major piece next year. We haven't seen much of it in conference play but his mid-range jumper is amazing. He really seems to play a lot like a slightly less developed Russell, although he lacks the pizazz that makes Russell so damnn loveable as a fan, but hateable as an opponent.

Hill has some serious skill, every now and then he does something that gives you a glimpse of it. Once he starts getting more minutes, develops a little bit, and gets in his comfort zone he is going to be dangerous. Ton of potential in him.

He came in there like a 17-0 heavyweight boxer last night. Took no sht off anyone and will shoot it right n your face. I understand why he's not seeing a lot of valuable mins and there are more reasons than one. We have a lot of experience at the top and their cohesion takes precedence. But he could easily be a starter and will improve greatly when assuming more playing time. LOVE the young man.

He can say NIL but it was really Father Time.
If your saying he didn't have the energy keep up with free agency college basketball...then yes.

If your saying the game on the court passed him by then "No".

Coach L retired 18 months removed from a Final four appearance playing 5 out small ball. The style of play has not changed since '23.

Rewatching the game and just got to Phil's "injury". He tells the ref he got hit in the face and then slowly crumples to the floor holding his head after the ref ignores him. A master class in acting and agitating.
I watched the replay a lot of times and a slow motion replay. He clearly received an intentional hit to his head. He had to do SOMETHING to get the referees to look at the monitor. I’m glad he did. And I’m REALLY glad he’s OK.

I missed last night's game. Ugh!

The only game I have been able to watch recently was the UR game on Saturday, and overall I haven't been able to follow the season as much as I would like to. I recently lost my beautiful wife to cancer and as you all can imagine, it's been a difficult road. I am slowly returning to a more "normal" existence, although it will be a new normal.

Hopefully I can watch more of the games now - I need to find fun and joy in my life again.
I’m so so sorry to read this. Grieving is HARD WORK. Be sure to offer yourself grace.

I dont think that was larranagas point. He actually stayed around for quite a few years at a low salary. Why because he was loyal to the university and he wanted to build.

The issue there was when VCU paid SS well into the millions Coach L asked for more the new AD and Pres balked and off went Coach L.

If you are talking about why he recently quit, it’s quite simple and it has nothing to do with NIL. Dude was too old and the game had a passed him by. We must remember he quit this year but he actually gave up on his guys during a game at the end of last season. He can say NIL but it was really Father Time.
It was the latter and he stated in his press conference. Said first time he met with his team after final four 8 players informed him they were transferring out. There's no reason not to take him at face value. Other legendary head coaches are retiring citing similar concerns. It makes total sense and I can't imagine why anyone wouldn't believe him given the current situation in college athletics. Too old? He is one year removed from a final 4 run. He wasn't too old to succeed.

Not sure I could navigate that….May God give you strength
