I agree, VCU is the deepest team in the state, but there is significant talent at non-CAA schools who could start on this team: Delaney, Landesburg and don't forget Anderson at UR--all excellent, tough, high bb IQ's and all winners.
In VA [forget conferences] the coaches that I believe right now are getting the most with what they have are W&M, followed by UVA. VCU & Tech, Mason and ODU are all excellent teams, but just not there yet, whether chemistry, players, whatever? VCU has the biggest upside opportunity of above from the state this year, becasue of depth, and seasoned players who've been there/done that. Tech is next regarding more upsdie. ODU/GMU will need to do it mostly with chemistry and defense to get to a next level this year, but both have players and coaches to do just that.
VCU is coming together, but significant number of moving parts are still jelling. Remember, last year at this time Skeen/Gavin were sitting out, Joey was still homesick [and hadn't yet even transferred away] and Grant was flirting with the SEC. I want instant success with our talent, but all in all we've come a very long way in a very short time. We must get stability in our program, and it's returning.
