I pose two questions?

1. Does anyone in the CAA or the State of VA have as much talent top to bottom as VCU?

2. Would any present UVA or Tech player be a hands down starter on this VCU team other than Landesburg at UVA?

Comments?

Delany would instantly start at point hands down and Mike Scott at UVa would be in consideration at the four spot right now with Skeen somewhat in a rut.

1. Tough to measure...but I am very pleased with the veteran talent and the play of our young guys.

2. I hate Tech but Delaney, and Jeff Allen are legit. I've always been impressed with Cam Long from Mason.

With that said I would take any of our Rams any day.

I agree, VCU is the deepest team in the state, but there is significant talent at non-CAA schools who could start on this team: Delaney, Landesburg and don't forget Anderson at UR--all excellent, tough, high bb IQ's and all winners.

In VA [forget conferences] the coaches that I believe right now are getting the most with what they have are W&M, followed by UVA. VCU & Tech, Mason and ODU are all excellent teams, but just not there yet, whether chemistry, players, whatever? VCU has the biggest upside opportunity of above from the state this year, becasue of depth, and seasoned players who've been there/done that. Tech is next regarding more upsdie. ODU/GMU will need to do it mostly with chemistry and defense to get to a next level this year, but both have players and coaches to do just that.

VCU is coming together, but significant number of moving parts are still jelling. Remember, last year at this time Skeen/Gavin were sitting out, Joey was still homesick [and hadn't yet even transferred away] and Grant was flirting with the SEC. I want instant success with our talent, but all in all we've come a very long way in a very short time. We must get stability in our program, and it's returning.

Jeff Allen
Malcolm Delaney
Like Emit said.

There are definitely some underrated guys on the list who I wouldn't mind seeing in the black and gold...

David Schneider, most underrated player in the state? (16.5 pts, 6.1 rbs, 2.8 ast)
as well as Kevin Anderson and David Gonzalvez from Richmond.

How about the C from Radford. He is NBA bound and he lit up GMU. I also like Bowles, Texas A&M transfer, for JMU.

I'd be curious to know the answer to #1, too. How do you measure that? Playing time? stats?

Certainly a lot of talent in VA, but like in UR's case, Gonzo and KA have a significant gap over the rest of their teammates on the talent meter...IMO.

Maybe the question is not who has a team as talented as ours from top/bottom, but maybe who has a team as balanced in talent as we do (or I think we do)? (maybe we're asking the same thing).

I saw the title of the thread, and assumed this would be about the dance team, and the new Miss America.

The only player at VCU I would take is Larry if I had to pick from all the talent in the state.

Agreed. If I were to pick one at each position from all of the talent in the state, I'd def take Larry as my center.

I forgot about Anderson and Gonzalvez. I have seen all those guys play but Schneider wouldnt see much burn at all. Not to say he isnt a good player. However, he doesnt fit anywhere. He isnt a pure point or wing.
Gonzalvez, Burgess pick em. Burgess has more upside I'd take him.

Allen, is probably a wash with Skeen on the VCU team with Shaka's system, therefore not impressed.

Delaney would be a two guard at VCU ( he is more of a combo guard not very high assist or steals stats) good scorer howevever and he can get to the rack. However, does anyone really think he is a better athlete than Nixon, shooter than Rozell? Again if he started out here it wouldnt be clear cut.

Anderson, he most likely would be the starter at point he can pass it, shoot it and run an offense.

I think we are deep in talent. Larry is the best big in the Commonwealth, although that Denzel Bowles man is he good. He and Larry would make a heck of a 1, 2 punch.

If any of you think that we have any player better than Delaney then you are extremely biased. Delaney is the leading candidate for ACC player of the year and is either the best or second best player in the state of Virginia with Landesberg.

...why limit it to just in-state players? ...why not include pros too? ...how about all-time living or dead? ...what about superheros and figures from mythology?

...what about vegetables?
