The VCU Rams 2022-23 Season Thread

While not great our OOC schedule wasn’t terrible. What was bad was how we played. That’s on us, but I want to focus on now, tomorrow. Once season is over we need to seriously discuss how we can start playing better earlier in the season. Our whole conference does. We and the A10 simply must do better OOC against good competition.

So there’s a couple games in Orlando for the ESPN invitational (iowa state, VT, PennSt, Boise, Texas a&m, butler) and a game with Houston…allegedly we start the UVA series but not sure if confirmed…any other confirmed OOC games for next year that I’m missing?

Home vs. Temple, home vs. Memphis

Another good reason why making the tournament is so important and why it has to be a primary measure of success. Just look at how much media coverage we’ve had the last few days. A school could spend a fortune and not get this much exposure. What about the impact on recruiting? Economic impact?

Go Rams Go!!

That article was jam-packed with a lot of juicy tidbits. A lot of it I knew, but explained in such a way I still learned a wee bit, confirmed some suspicions, more like assumptions I had. Should be required reading.

Any mention of bus trips?

The season was successful via making the tourney and winning the A10. I can't complain. Disappointed, but can't complain.

However on some level this season is fools good. All we really did this year was beat up on the worst A10 in 20 years. We failed in the OOC so bad that even winning the conference by 3 games and then making the A10 final did nothing for an at large. Then we run our tourney go on a 9 game win streak just to choke under the bright lights yet again. SMC is good but putting up 51, only scoring 6 fgs in 2nd half, and losing by double digits is a choke job.

Rhoades is now 0-2-1 in the NCAAs. 1-1 in the NIT. So 6 years in a 1-3-1 record. The lone win at the STU all the losses by double digits. The results are pretty mid to me.
