Things to do in Pittsburgh during the Tournament

My Air B'n'B is booked, and I have my tickets ordered (thank you, Rhody).
In 35 days, the A10 Tournament will start.
Now I'm looking at things to do in Pittsburgh while there...

Did you know that the St. Patrick's Day Parade will be downtown on Saturday the 14t?

PS - I'm not a runner, but there's also a pre-parade 5K
Last time we were there the band took part in the parade. While it was fun to be part of it, it was also one of the most miserable experiences I've ever had with how cold it was with the valves on several of the tubas and trumpets freezing in place and icicles forming on the water keys, and a few band members developed a bit of frostbite. Hopefully it's not that cold this time around, especially if we end up in the parade again...

we were there as spectators. your efforts were appreciated!

The Church Brew Works is a must. Great brews and food all reasonably priced.
Went there in January after the road game at Duquesne. Place is awesome! For those of you wondering..... an old church was repurposed into a brewery and restaurant. You can sit in church pews and the beer tanks are located where the choir would usually sit.

Go to North Shore Tavern and get the Steak on a Stone.
You're welcome!
Then go next door to Mike's Beer Bar.
You're welcome, again!
I have enjoyed all of these over the years. You might even run into me and have the opportunity to buy me a beer that week.

Museums: Roberto clemente museum, heinz history center (very good), fort pitt, Warhol museum, Carnegie art museum (free), tours of PNC are excellent if weather is ok.
Shopping/walking/eats-strip district-yes Primantis if you have not tried it but peppis is better for sandwiches; church brewery, but personally prefer Penn Brewery with quasi-German fare. Never mentioned but if you want to eat like a local then eat n park-probably not mentioned because similar to Denny's, but burgers are decent and baked goods are fine.

After you eat and drink at North Shore Tavern walk over to Acrisure Stadium and pee on the entrance.

We've been to Pittsburgh a couple of times over the last couple of years and have very much enjoyed it. The Warhol Museum was surprisingly excellent (even though he is not among my favorite artists), the National Aviary is awesome, and both of the Carnegie museums (art and natural history) are terrific can can fill a day. If you are an architecture buff, a trip to Fallingwater is a must, although it is far enough out of town that it might be difficult to arrange around basketball games.

Considering location, food, and expense, my #1 recommendation for a nice dinner is Bar Marco. Excellent Italian, but very small so reserve early.

Fet-Fisk is also a great little spot

Worth noting that there's a free light rail train (I'm cheap, and I like trains...).
It's free within the downtown zone, but that includes the north shore (where the museums and PNC/Acrisure (HEINZ!) stadiums are) to Station Square on the south shore.
Good for getting from some of the restaurants and bars back to your hotel!

Oh, and if you're downtown the small quirky Fort Pitt museum is worth a stop while walking around the confluence of the 3 rivers.

Go to Primanti Brothers and get a sandwich.

I’ll be honest, I never understood the Primantis hype. Only had it once, so maybe they had an off day, but I wasn’t impressed.
