I've been reading these boards for several months and enjoy the comments and information provided by my fellow ram fans. Rarely do I have much to add, however today I feel the need to vent. Im considering cancelling my subscription to the TD, thier coverage of VCU basketball seem to be increasingly slanted. I know this has been discussed in the past, but seems to getting more blatant. We beat a good ranked Oklahoma team and all we get is a blurb that is almost burried. Now were in the middle of a great run and have beat some very good basketball teams including a very talented Rhode Island team last night and all Tim Parrell seems interested in is our "Miscues galore".

the only thing the TD is good for is whipping your a$$

This is the only place you need to go for your VCU bball fix

Very Very true!

when we beat a ranked team all we had was a Litlle COLUMN on the side! are you kidding me! vCU has one of the largest CAA fan bases and deserve a lot more then that! :!:

You and goramsgo wanna share something, or did you mean wiping?

If attendance is any marker of interest you will note that SC attendance last evening was over a thousand more than at the Robins Center. This despite the fact the UR athletic department is notorious for releasing inflated attendance numbers and the fact that the number of attendees was bolstered by more than a few Monarch fans.

The UR basketball team year in and year out receives considerable more press from the RTD than does the VCU program, despite the Rams being the dominate program in the area for a number of years, despite the fact that the Ram fanbase is considerably larger than that of the Spiders and the number of VCU students, alumni and fans far outnumbers that of the UofR. Bighorn said he had the figures and would release them to us but is apparently MIA, or maybe as a RTD employee he didn't wish to state in fact what many of us here have known for years.

We have discussed this subject to death in our threads on the CAAZone. I and a number of others have sent numerous letters to the RTD editorial staff, the executive sports editor and the sports pages in general. I remember one gentleman even attempted to address it one of the public forums sponsered by the newspaper. Despite the fact that I have been "correspondant of the day" and had numerous letters published on the editorial pages not one of my letters concerning the dearth of coverage for the men's BB program has ever been published or acknowledged, much less addressed. Although I still continue to subscribe to the RTD I no longer rely on it to provide me with news and information about my favorite sports team.

If newspapers wonder why they are fast becoming obsolete they only have to look on this example as a prime reason. I'm sure most long time posters on these boards are tired of hearing me whine about this subject and I'll just leave it at that.

For those of you who don't get the RTD they had stories about the UR game and the VCU game on the front page of the sports section today. After you read the first section on the front page if you wanted to finish reading about the UR game you would flip through a couple of pages and look for the headline "Richmond". If you wanted to finish reading about the VCU game you would flip the page and look for the headline "Miscues". Both teams won their games, UR has one loss this season, VCU has one loss this season.

Print media is dead. I will miss it, but it's just how it is in the 21st Century. I can't remember the last time I picked up the T-D, Style, any other magazine, etc. Quality reporting/coverage has gone away with print media as well...

I wrote to Tim P at the RTD some years ago about their coverage (or lack thereof). this was about the time Capel was beginning to make his mark. It was a useless cause; RTD will always have a bias against VCU and the CAA for that matter and nothing will change that, except for time when they finally board up the doors.

Bighorn is on the clock.

This thread is kinda like eating cheesecake for dinner for 20 years and wondering why you cholesterol is through the roof. The T-D is what it is, no surprise.

I didn't read the article, but we did screw up at the end and almost blew the game.

I am retired, get up about 6:00 AM, look forward to the TD, Wall Street Jounal and cup of hot coffee. I usually scan the headlines on the front page, review the obituaries, and then read articles of interest on the sports page. For the most relevant news, I get on the internet. Tiger Woods' wife would get 300 million with a divorce. I will continue with the TD until I read my name. ....

Never tire trying to right a wrong. Complain to the paper long & loud, but for the record Tim does a great job. I don’t like it when he doesn’t travel to away games as I think we have earned at least that based on our (VCU's) relevancy to the city. I am sure VCU provides enough revenue to the TD to pay Tim’s way.
But don’t throw stones if you have not read his VCU blog and commented. It is free by the way. I have and had great back & forths with him. If you want the TD to talk VCU basketball than initiate it or stfu. It is like riding all the home and lamenting the fact that sports radio show doesn’t talk about the Rams and not picking up the cell and calling in

Be a witness for the program! Can I get an amen!

"Miscues Galore"

I honestly thought they were speaking of the RTD operation
