Toibu "Tobi" Lawal

Len Bias...if he develops...
I will be happy with him being the next Kendrick Warren.

You're bugging if you think he has the skill set to be good enough to be the 2nd pick in the draft. Let's see what happens when he becomes the focal point of the other team's scouting report when we play better competition. The Memphis game kinda came out of nowhere and Alcorn State is Alcorn State.

However...Obi Toppin wasn't projected to be A-10 POY and an NBA lottery pick so stranger things have happened. But you gotta admit your track record on such projections is...well...you know what it is. But a broken clock is right twice a day. A blind squarell sometimes runs into an acorn.

I think a comparison of Tobi to the Toppin kid at Dayton could be fair. Toppin was raw when he got to Dayton. Not saying that Tobi will be national POY in a couple years but you never know.

I think it’s a good development that Tobi is now taking Fermin’s minutes, and that’s not an indictment of Ferm. Ferm has improved a lot since last year and will continue to get better, but the 30+ minutes that he’s had to play in several games do not match the modest production that we’ve been getting from that position.

Tobi playing a lot of his minutes at the 5 will allow continued minutes for Belle, Kuany and probably help with working Bairstow back in.

As Odom has said, there’s a lot of flexibility with this roster. Guys just need to continue getting better on both sides of the floor, like Tobi is doing.
Wow...we pretty much typed the Obi comp at the same time.

What did I say???? If he develops...he has the type of upside...motor + vertical...he's shown flashes of being able to go after rebounds like Kendrick and bias. Same size if he fills out to 220

Will he get a chance to develop..That's a big if...

One indicator...he's shown he can hit the corner 3..something he never showed last year..after just one summer...something Kendrick Warren could never in four years in the black and gold...let alone free throws...

I was right about oduro in his freshman at Mason...the first one to say to we should go after Joe Bamisille the very day he entered the portal..pretty much the only person who called Wheeler a bad move when we signed him. Took alot of sh-t here at the time from everyone here. Turned out to be right on both counts.

Congrats
you are two for 75

Aside from Haley..give me 5 examples of players which i was wrong about.
The platform says "the next" is too common a term to do a search for some reason, but off the top here are five "he reminds me of" gems (with a two bonuses):

Obi Toppin reminds you of Roy Tarpley (games are nothing alike)
Khris Lane reminds you of a combination of Rudy Gay and Reggie Lewis
Kevin Easley reminds you of Calbert Cheaney
Sean Mobley reminds you of Dave Cowens
Anthony Polite reminds you of John Havlicek, Blake Griffin and Chris Mullin "all rolled into one."
Gerron Scissum reminds you of Walt Williams
Mo Alie-Cox reminds you of Karl Malone

Warren showed that he was good enough to be first team all-conference right out the box every season of his college career. Something Tobi will never be able to accomplish. So if Tobi can one day develops to be good enough to do that once, I'm more than good.

The fact that we're even having this conversation is a major feather in his hat. But he's a long way from that in spite of the promising start to the season. Honesty, other than the dunking and jumping ability, I really don't see a lot of similarities in their game. I'm just saying if he can develop into an exciting, all-conference level power forward like Kendrick I would be thrilled.

Let's allow him to marinate before slapping all of these "the next" labels on him.

NOW you're just making up stuff....

I read that as Walt Whitman and was even more confused

Ward, MBJ, and Rose all reminded you of James Worthy.

It was ONLY MBJ

Remind doesn't mean "as good as Worthy"...it just means similar game.

As it turns out I was right about MBj now getting he is getting a chance to play. He is doing Worthy's things a UNC-G...he's filling the lane on transition dunks...quick first step jump hooks...pretty much Worthy's bag..

AND You can't say it's just the competition level either.. he dropped 24 on Vandy and 18 on a ranked Arkansas team respectively...now he's even hitting the kickout 3's!!!
