Top 10 Coolest/Biggest Badass/Clutch/ Rams in the past 10

Re: Top 10 Coolest/Biggest sitter/Clutch/ Rams in the past 10

For the biggest bad sitters, I'd have to add in LF, maybe Eric Davis (he was a tool, but I bet he wouldn't have taken any crap if he had been worth giving substantial minutes to) and I would have to second JPR, especially after he layed out that Duke dweeb! TJ can hold his own too if you get him P.O.ed!!! (Think back to that road JMU game that he got a technical.)

Coolest, I'd have Calvin Roland, Dom Jones, Nick George, TJ, BA, JPR, LF, Doles, and our Athletic Department friends Keith Rafter and former assistant athletic director BJ Burton. The game after I got ejected from JMU for being too rowdy, he came up to me and said 'I hope they actually bring fans so I can throw every one of their @$$es out!!!'

Chris "Bombs Away" Brower. Now that' s a name to remember. He didn't take any crap from any Odie Who Pussycats either.

I was at the game at the Sun Dome where we came back from 25 down and won in OT. In addition to Harris, Brower hit a few, including the one that sent it into OT I believe. USF couldn't figure out how to defend Sherron Mills setting the high screen for the shooters.

I never saw a VCU player get double and triple teamed like Calvin. As you said, we would clear out and everybody would be on Calvin like flies on sh!t.

The original Rambo taking it out on the Rowdy Rambo! LOVE IT!

As for clutch.... you'd have to have Calvin Duncan on any list you put together. I would have to add Danny Kottak to that list as well. What a player- especially at the end of a game. And Phil Stinnie was just amazing. Definitely one of the best ever, and also a clutch performer. Man did he murder UVA when he got the chance, and after they snubbed the Charlottesville super-star. I also would have Dom Jones on my list.

As for total Bad-A$$ type guys.... I'd have Randy Corker on the list. He wasn't afraid of ANYONE. Period. I believe he came off the mean streets of Philly / Sothern NJ... somewhere around there, as did Calvin (Rozelle NJ or maybe Linden NJ).... and he was just pure bad. Also, John Thompson and Bruce Pettway were a bad-A$$ combination. Both 4's in the late 80's.... and both 2 of the biggest ball players I've ever seen. John Smith was bigger, but those 2 guys were way more cut than him.

I also like Greg McCray as honorable mention for All-Time Bad-A$$ performer. He was a tough one. And then also as honorable mention for Mr Clutch would be Ivan Chappell. Remember the same team with Hopkins and Byrd... the 96' CAA Champs, in our first season, and the championship game vs UNCW. What a bloody mess that game was. Jerry Wainright got exactly what he wanted. But Ivan the Terrible killed them in the final few minutes, as he scored in the lane, he hit a couple mid-range jumpers, and he nailed down 4 consecutive free throws to ice the game. What a game he played!!! Solid senior year as well.

Bo Jones & BA Walker have to be on the clutch list, as does Ro Lamb. And Captain Ed. The older guys could probably tell you stories about a guy that we had in the early days that came over from the Shipyard. A welder. Apparently, had scars all over the place. And apparently, he literally almost murdered Robert "The Chief" Parrish when Centinary came to the Franklin St gym. I think the guy's name was Jimmy "something." Can't remember the story alltogether. RAMification has told me several times, and I forget the guy's name. But supposedly, there was no tougher RAM- ever. And yes- I agree that TJ is amazing, and really tough too.

I vote Chico Swinton for all-time head-scratcher award. And Jim Turns for all-time "Mr Irrelevant."

Corker was from Trenton.

TRENTON MAKES . . . THE WORLD TAKES.

Didn't McCray have a run in with an official while playing professionally in the UK? I seem to remember it being in USA Today.

I'll never forget a post game interview with JD. Randy had just gone off on some team and may have in fact hit the game winning shot. When asked about Randy, JD said "his butt is as wide as this table" pointing to a fairly large scorers table. But the kid could shoot.

Willie Taylor has to be in the discussion for one of the most Badass Rams of all-time.

Joey Rodriguez.

Good call you two. People can talk all the ish they want about him being a sub 6 footer but darn if I would want any piece of him. Not even after he is been on the court for 35 mins, he is full throttle all the time.
