Recruiting Transfer Portal

I want to know why a top 100 recruit is redshirting this year. Either Creighton is already loaded for bear or he has some weaknesses that have impacted his ability to play his freshman year - not saying he is a poor player - VCU's Martin is redshirting (I presume) due to his thin frame/lack of muscle and perhaps stamina needed at the college level....doesn't mean he is a bad player, just a current weakness.
Of course you want to ascertain why he is entering the Portal as a freshman before recruiting him. Creighton is loaded this year so I am sure opportunity has been limited. But in the current environment players transfer on a whim. Not particularly unusual. What he supposedly is is a big, strong, long, athletic, power guard that is a dog on defense but still in the process of refining his perimeter game. We lose 4 guards so a consensus top 100 guard who is a dog on defense and has 4-years of elibility is definitely worth investigating. I see Martin as more of a SF than a 2-guard. Martin is now over 6'8".

Or the check didn't clear or his agent thinks he can get more on the open market or someone from X Univ has been whispering in his ear.

Or he got a taste of Omaha

I wasn't trying to compare court positions, just an idea as to why he wasn't playing and a possible reason could be the same as Martin....strength and conditioning or maybe it's something else.

I got to go to the last game and I watched Martin in warm ups. I know it was just shoot around, but man can he stroke it. Swish after swish from 6 feet beyond the 3-point arc (at least).
Really good to hear. I really like his potential. We are going to need his shooting next season.

This is waayyy too early...but this is the informal off the top my head short list of possible transfers which I would consider to backfill 2024-26 court openings...

Bryce Lindsay, JMU
Robert Davis Jr, ODU
Greg Jones, American University...

we should stay away from robert davis jr. he spots abysmal 34% from the field and is from a losing culture

From the guy that claimed DJ Haley would be an NBA star and Tobi was a generational talent and Phil Russel is the greatest point guard in the history of the program

Stay away from any advice from the mason court jester.

Tobi is a generational talent. Dude has played just 3 years of competitive college ball and now the leading scorer on ACC team.

Some one here claime that he's padding his stats...He's made only 7 less 3's than Clark with 43 less shot attempts..hence the reason he has a 40.4 3 pt% vs Clark 29.4%...11 pts higher!!..altogther he's taking 1 fga than Clarke per game 7.9 - 6.9 and averaging 5 more ppg. (13.3 to 8.3).

He's doing things on the court that no one around here has seen since Kendrick warren.

Kendrick

Tobi

He has also hits 67.5% of his ft's vs. Kendrick 52.2% in their jr. years.

If Kendrick had hit 67.5% of his Ft's for his career like Lawal..VCU would have at least 3 NCAA appearances..instead of none and 1 NIT appearance.

Next year, Tobi is going to be 1st Team all-acc and a 1st round draft pick.

On an ACC team that scored a whopping 36 points against a BC team that VCU beat by 25. Scoring only 7 points against a horrible BC team is not going to get you any mentions for any ACC award.

When was the last time you were tested for dementia?
