I put my 1985 Chevy Blazer in gear over the weekend and it would hardly move. Does anybody know of a good honest transmission shop or "guy", preferably Henrico or Richmond? One they will swear by? It has a TH400 transmission and worst case scenario is a rebuild.

I want my truck back!

You should call Gearbox Transmissions. According to a bunch of sources this guy is the best transmission guy in Richmond.

Last year 2 dealerships told my buddy he need a new $5000 trany for his Acura. He took it to this guy for the afternoon turns out the transmission was fine, the issue was he needed a new battery. Not only did he save him a pile I think he only charged him like $50 for the diagnostics.

Nah, the truck is already at Weavers but they want a boatload of money for a rebuild ($1700-2000) or remanufactured tranny ($2200-2300 from Jasper). Some people are saying that's too much and some people are saying that's about normal.

In the meantime, I'm still making phone calls.

You're gonna hate me, but that's about normal.

LOLwut? That doesn't even make sense, and I know nothing about cars.

Lee, the vehicle is over 25 years old... maybe it's time to think about hospice care.

I know next to nothing about cars as well, but apparently the issue was the computer in the vehicle wasn't shifting properly and it was cause the battery wasn't holding a good enough charge. I thought it was weird too but it saved my buddy $5k and it's been running fine now for almost 2 years.....

It's not just a truck, it's a badass piece of military history. And I've only had it since September.
