Does anyone know the true height of Reddic? I have seen listings of anywhere from 6'8" to 6'10"

Same for Reco 6'5+" to 67".

Has anyone seen either of the two stand up against anyone on our present team?

Finally, when did Larry grow to 6'11"?

Thanks in advance.

Re: True Height of Reddic and Reco

Juvonte is 6'9 and 1/2 inches. He's a shade shorter than Quincy Miller who is a legit 6'10. He is actually at the 215 listed.

Reco is a legit 6'7 but is actually around 175 pounds and not the 190 listed. He needs to put on a lot of weight.

Larry was never actually 6'11, nor was he 235. He's 6'10 and around 225-227 pounds depending on the day.

It's hard for me to believe Larry is even 225...wasn't he weighed during those camps he went to this summer and landed somewhere around 213? I doubt he gained weight during the season given all the practices and games without much weightlifting as in the off season.

I know everyone is pumped about these recruits...I am too. But, we aren't going to get an awful lot out of them this year. Veal is our only hope for someone to come in a really make an immediate impact in the post. Beyond that I could see Haley (due to his length) having the best year among the Freshman - - is there even another 6-11+ guy in the CAA?

Shaka said that Larry wasn't 235 at the beginning of the year but was only around 226-227 at this point but that he would be like 250 in like 5 years *shrug*. I think he was certainly heavier than 213 and looked bigger than that this season, definitely not 235, but not 213 either.

I agree...we're not going to get instant impact from these guys, except for Toby most likely, and even then JUCOs undergo a bit of an adjustment period as well as the competition they face game in and game out is better than that they face in junior college. He did play high major ball in Colorado, but you have to use the word 'play' loosely since he didn't get any burn until the end of his freshmen year, and even then playing time was sparsely given. He's the only one I would expect to step in right away and give us something. I think all of these guys have the potential to be very good players and a couple of these guys even big-time stars in the CAA...but that won't be this year. See Eric Maynor.

I have mused the same thing about Haley. He just strikes me as being the overlooked guy in the class like Sanders was coming in. The kid is smart as heck, a 1/4 inch shy of 7 feet, has good size (225-230 lbs), and runs the floor with a nice touch around the basket. I could see him doing a bit of damage early on. Towson has picked up a 6'11 guy in Jamel Flash who will be a freshmen as well and ODU redshirted 7-footer Anton Larsen from Denmark. Whether they are stiffs or not remains to be seen. He may or may not play them. Haley will get playing time, he's no stiff.

How good these freshamn will be depends on how much work they are willing to put in during the off season and how they buy into our coaches and trainers philosphy and work ethic. Height and weight is important but their intestinal fortitude and heart can make up for the above. I feel we have 5 very good players that will all contribute to the Ram's continued winning ways.

Agreed, but the transition from HS to D1 is huge and experience is required unless someone has such huge god-given talent they can overcome a lack of experience with athleticism. We have 5 good players coming in, but none are Top 50 types, so I don't look for that freshman impact type suprise.

Veal has the most experience JC (and some D1 PT), and toughness. I really like what I've read of Veal''s mental approach to the game: get the ball in the paint and put it on the rack, with focus. He doesn't fade away when he shots. He doesn't look to see where his toes are relative to the 3-line. He goes after the ball like it was his school lunch somebody just stole. That's what we needed this past year. That is what we will need even more next year.

If there is a starter in the incoming 5, it will be Veal (IMHO). I would love to be wrong and there be several incoming starters. I just see five young men learning how to find their away around VCU/Fan/social scene and think the additional awaking from D1 play is simply too much to expect of them relative to on-going performance.

teams all over the country have freshman starting and doing very well. Are we saying our recruits being 2 star and 3 star will not be talented enough to start with what we have coming back?

i'm going out on a limb and predict one of our freshman will be starting by CAA tourn. time.

(I love to say I told you so-lol-remember it came from vcu70!)

He has actually started every game since he stepped foot on campus. He wasn't a guy that came in with a lot of hype, so you never know.

He was a solid recruit. Scout.com had him as a three star. Others had him at a high two star, and ESPN rated him 78 with no evaluation. I think many of the ramnation slept on brad due to the previous years incoming class with Kearse, Nixon, Joey, Brandon, Myk Brown, and Larry.

Many thought Kearse would take the spot occupied by Burgess which is also why many over looked him.

I actually expected him to be good. Although, I didn't expect him to start out of the gate. Some have stated the Reco could take his spot. I do not think that possible. In my opinion, of all the guys remaining, Burgess has the best shot of moving on to the next level given his body, and style of play. He reminds me of the former UVA player Bryan Stith. However, he does need to be a bit more aggressive offensively.

With Shaka's coaching style I'm not so hung up on who starts...we'll have a solid rotation of 8-10 guys by tourney time and hopefully more if Havoc returns at the same level we finished.

...back on topic...I am certain Reddic & Reco and the other freshmen & Veal will measure 10' tall after we bring home the CAA regular season and tournament titles in March.
