When this team is good, they are not waiting for the player to come to the trap, they are bringing the trap to the player.

When this team is good, they are not waiting in the corner for the ballhandler to drive to the bucket with the hope of catching your defender off balance, and catch and shoot a three off of the kickout. They are making hard cuts off the ball, making their defender stay with them, rather than helping down.

When this team is good, they are not waiting for a guard to put his head down and drive to the basket, praying for an open man to pass it to, they are creating the space themselves to free up a drive, or creating the space for a post player work into a position to receive a pass.

When this team is good, they don't wait for a referee to call a foul, they take it strong and finish anyway.

When this team is good, they don't wait. They turn it on themselves.

This team can, and will, turn it on. As a fan, I have faith. Don't give up on this team, and I expect them not to give up on themselves.

Some may wait 'til next year. I say lets go right now.

If this team is good they would have turned it on by now

We have been good this season. We can be again. We are not right now.

Some may choose to quit. I wont.

For the life of me I can't figure out why we are so inconsistent. Why do we go 7 and 8 minutes at a time without scoring? Why can't we defend in the half court? Why do we look so "flat" at times? Where is the energy? Where is the leadership? The talent is there (for the most part), we should be playing better basketball.

Revenge Tourney 2011. All 3 teams have just beat us. This teams seems to need some negative to motivate them, hopefully the Richmond Times will put out a front article saying vcu can't win and doesn't know how to play half court defense.

I still think we can win it. I just hope we're not pulling a Mason from last year. I do believe that if this team comes together they can win the tourney. We'll call the CAA championship celebration "senior night". :D

It's a number of things not just one. Shots aren't falling, taking too many threes, taking too quick of shots and settling for "good" shots over "GREAT" shots, not having a natural scorer that will get you 20 a night and will score when the team needs a bucket. No one thing can attribute to this, but the defense at times puts us in binds. Gotta lock up on one end, when shots aren't falling on the other.

I still have faith( a small amount) but I just feel like for this team we are good when the threes are dropping and we are average when they arent. I just dont see it happening 3 games in a row in an arena we havent played in all season.

I have faith but I have never been one to ignore the obvious.

They have to want it more than the other team, period. JMU wanted it more today. I want us to want it bad next weekend and win 3 games and go dancing.

This team is a very bad defensive team right now. They are getting schooled night in and night out and this coaching staff has made zero adjustments. That is totally unacceptable. The problem lies either at the feet of Coach Smart or Mike Jones. Either way, Jones isn't getting the job done as a defensive coach and it's hard to tell what Coach Smart is doing about it. We're still running the same defense and every team has figured it out.

The other area that is both offensively and defensively related thatirritates me is rebounding. This team doesn't want to rebound. As soon as VCU throws up a three, at least 4 VCU players are back peddling before the ball even gets to the basket. Several times today the shooter would have gotten a rebound if they had followed their shot. This is basic basketball!!!!! I'm starting to question whether any one on the coaching staff even knows how teach rebounding. This team needs to crash the boards every time a shot goes up. This one shot and done crap has to stop.

We are probably going to play Drexel or JMU next Saturday. We were lucky to beat both the first time around. Bruiser gave us the first Drexel game on a silver platter atthe end with the T's. We very easily could be 0-4 against these two teams. We better figure out how to play defense and rebound by Saturday or this season is over. Our chances of making the NIT are now toast. Five games ago we were 20-6. We are now 21-10. The wheels are coming off of this bus and the driver is not making any adjustments.

We can turn it on and I have faith that we will. However, at this time of the year teams should be playing their best basketball and we are playing our worst right now. I can understand if it was November or December but it's February and almost March. If this team wants to go dancing they need to turn it on not Saturday night come gametime but rather next week in practice.

Sorry Merc, didn't mean to intend that you've given up, just that it seems like some have.
