Walking out of the SC today, I couldn't help but think about the Ramblin' Man's lyrics. I saw my first VCU game back in 1978 - Henderson, Watson, Kottack, Elliot, Sherod - what a team. And there have been some great ones and some not-so-great ones over the years. This regular season closes on one of the more frustrating versions of the Rams for me personally and it started with the UNC-G game.

I appreciate 4-year players because it is good for the program, but man I am ready for the page to turn. JMU's last and winning basket today was so symbolic of this season of frustration. Joey lets his man blow by him on the perimeter and he scores in the paint. Nice.

A couple of stats: Last time we lost 4 regular season games in a row in the CAA? Mack's 14-14 team of '99-'00. Last time we lost three regular season games at the SC? Capel's 19-13 team of '04-'05.

I believe next year, with the exception of one player, Shaka will be playing with his players so it will be on him at that point, my opinion.

I saw Joey's assignment score 17 today but could have been worse or maybe I missed a few buckets- They are blowing ny him on the dribble but what are we to do-they are blowing by Brandon too.

I'm not a Joey basher or a basher of any VCU player for that matter, but it is time for the Joey era to end .
He has been incredibly inconsistent. My heart would like to think he would have great weekend and we could win the championship, however my brain tell's me something different. I'm exicted about some or our younger players and think we have brighter days ahead.

Just woundering, where do you think we would be if Joey and transferred two year ago?

A lot worse off. A point guard who helps you sometimes and frustrates you others, is better than none at all.

Tend to agree with Pav on this one. He's been a special kid for us. You all heard his career stat line in the pre-game senior festivities. He's been one heck of a Ram.

He also has had one heck of a supporting cast that helps the stats. He played 3 seasons with 2 NBA first round draft picks. He has been a huge disappointment on offense this season and his passing today reminded me of Lamar Taylor. Let's drive into the crowd without a clue about what we are going to do next.

We had better find a point guard before next season or start grooming Brandenberg to play point. Theus is not the answer.

All great teams have good supporting casts.

He still has two years to put everything together. Let's see how the off-season works out for him. I'm confident Shaka can iron out the kinks in his game.

That one player will be the best one on the team next year. heck, he may have been this year.

As odd as it sounds, I am glad out three 4 year guys were our guys and they gave us some GREAT games and memories and I am equally glad to see them leave. Maybe they all had Maynoritis, but two of the three do not want the game to be in their hands and the last one has that desire but lacks the ability to get it done. Part of the blame could be on the program, the 'it's our turn" promotion was not good for these three as they did seem to play with a sense of entitlement as opposed to urgency.

That would fit in perfectly with the fan base who expects championships every year just because.

The Maynoritis is something I've wondered about before. Maybe watching how Maynor could just flip the switch and win games when we didn't play our best caused them to think they could do the same when it was their turn after Maynor graduated.

This coupled with Larry-itis - our players passing the buck and just assuming someone will be there under the basket to stop the easy layups in the paint.

I'm still waiting for a Joey Sunshine Championship run. Then we can end the story.
