Very close to Tillman in frame at that age. Tilly was definitely coming in to play inside, I think Ty is a wing right from the beginning. We are going to be really big having at least two wings at 6'8".Awesome News!!
6'8 175 is a nice frame to work with....glad he's a Ram.
Sub 30% at that….Not a commentary on Ty specifically but I don't really see a ton of value in being 6'7+ if you're just gonna shoot jumpers on the wing all day.
If everybody signed that you thought would sign we would have 35 guys on the rosterExcept my feeling came when vcu staff visited him at Putnam science the 2 weeks before he visited here on September 9th.
He is taller than deri. He's a legit 6'8.To me Ty looks like a taller deriante type of player
If you have 13 4*'s, you will have 6 or 7 transfers every year. That is unless we ...... to keep them here. Not sure why there should be any negativity with respect to Ty. I do believe that Dylan James was the number one priority and understandably so. That said, Ty has been on VCU's radar for some time. He is a big-time natural talent that can both shoot and play above the rim. His set-back in June of 2021 derailed him a bit but by reclassifying to 2023 and going to PSA, who won last year's National Prep Championship, he will likely become a pretty hot commodity. Cardinal Hayes was ranked in the top 25 nationally last year and had the number one 2024 prospect in the country. Ty did a lot of damage on that team. He also played for the very tough Wiz Kids AAU team. These NYC kids usually bring a lot of toughness. For the last several years Ty has had a reputation as being a sky-high ceiling guy because of his tools. It's now time to get it all together and realize those lofty projections. Hopefully that will come to fruition at PSA. It has for a lot of kids that matriculated there. He will play a lot of games and play against the best out there.
I don't view this slot as critical in the short-term. You can't recruit 13 top 100 4* guys especially in the age of the portal. You will never keep harmony on the team. While I want highly rated recruits every year I also understand the dynamics of recruiting. Signing talented high upside guys like Tobi and now Ty makes sense for the future. Every signing can't be a 4* prospect but if you can successfully identify and land kids with that high ceiling and talent level it gives the program continuity. Next guy up mentality.
Pulls a 6'7" defender out from under the basket, opens the floor for penetration. BTW, not all he does. Not a commentary on Ty specifically but I don't really see a ton of value in being 6'7+ if you're just gonna shoot jumpers on the wing all day.
Only if he's a threat to hit them. Otherwise it's the opposite.Pulls a 6'7" defender out from under the basket, opens the floor for penetration.
True.Only if he's a threat to hit them. Otherwise it's the opposite.
He's also can put the ball on the deck and get to the basket. He can create his own shot.Only if he's a threat to hit them. Otherwise it's the opposite.
I wasnt talking about foster in particular but if he is able to do all this at 6'7 he wouldn't be coming to VCUHe's also can put the ball on the deck and get to the basket. He can create his own shot.
