Tyrell Ward is a Ram! Never left but we are so back

Here is JD describing ground zero.

JD takes good care of himself. I saw firsthand his highs and lows in FSG. I will say that his preparation and organization of practice were without many peers. ( Others that ran their practices like this were names you would know: John Wooden, Dean Smith, Bobby Knight,...)

For me..He is still the best coach in VCU history in the best conference(during that time,) VCU ever played in.

According to Wiki, Rams are 1,058 and 572 since RPI/MCV merger ...

Trying to pick "the best" coach would be like trying to pick shiniest silver dollar at Fort Knox ...

Having been around a while, I lean toward the long-ago coaches - Dees, Noe, kirk, Barnett .... they did it when VCU really was considered "an outlaw school," an underdog, scratching for respect, without anything resembling today's advantages in status and revenue.

Coach Noe may have summed it up: "people say VCU like is a curse word."

None of your pro sport analogies are going to change my point: if you don’t trust the program to do the right thing with your donation, don’t donate. If you STILL donate, don’t complain about what you feel you are or are not getting back with your “investment.” It’s irrational to complain about your donation in hindsight. EVERYONE INVOLVED IN THE PROGRAM WANTS TO WIN. Will people still donate and complain? Yes. Is it still irrational? Yes. Is it hypocritical to complain about VCU asking for money while you continue to hand it over? Yes. Do we appreciate your donation? Of course! Do we appreciate you thinking that your complaints about staff decisions matter more because you donated? No.

This is a terrible take.... sorry not sorry.

First off, if Every single person that has or currently has an issue with ANYTHING regarding the program, the athletics dept, the performance on the court, how much NIL one person is receiving, ticket prices, OOC Schedule, certain information not being public information (such as how much a player is making, the real reason for a players absence from a team..... etc.) If every single person that had/has anything to complain about stopped donating..... our program would fall apart..... because guess what.... even things are going well..... there's always something that could be better.

Second of all, you're telling @duncanlamb & @Wolfpack Ram to stop donating because they stating their particular issues with certain things going on in or around the program?.....

Well how bout this..... how bout you stop reading these boards, or put them on ignore because you don't like what they are saying? You're over here getting pissy because they're airing their grievances (which is their right) and you're telling them they have no right to complain about things "just because they donate to the RAF or NIL, or buy season tickets..... Well Newsflash dude..... you have no right to tell them what they can and can't complain about.

This isn't the Facebook positive group where everything's gotta be blue skies and sunshine pumping 24/7/365. So Get the F*** over yourself.

If anyone's being hypocritical.... it's you. Because you're telling someone else to stop complaining, while complaining about their complaining. Again, if you don't wanna read what they gotta say, put them on ignore.

Also.... the only real reason REAL Pro Sports teams shouldn't be brought into this discussion.... is because REAL Pro sports teams like teams in the NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL... etc. They have multi million & billion dollar owners. They can afford fans not buying tickets, not showing up to games, not buying concessions & still have their team operational. Go look at the (Formerly known as) "Oakland" Athletics..... or go look at the Washington Commanders under Dan Snyder.

Their stadiums are/were empty FOR YEARS. Fans were boycotting the games for numerous reasons.... did their teams fold? No.... and only the A's ended up relocating (which was gonna happen anyway as the Oakland Coliseum is/was a dump & their lease was up at the stadium I believe). But despite all the fans boycotting those teams for years, and The Commanders (Formerly known as Redskins) who lost their Fed Ex Sponsor & had to rename their current stadium because of it..... their teams are still operational.

Meanwhile..... what would happen to our Sports Programs, if every single Donor, season ticket holder, Sponsor, NIL contributor.... etc. that has ever had an issue with ANYTHING surrounding our program or Ath. Dept..... just woke up & decided tomorrow.... "I'm done, I'm not spending another penny on VCU Athletics, The Ram Athletic Fund, NIL.... etc."

Our Sports Programs would fall flat on their faces..... we would no longer survive as a D1 program.

Just like,There's a number of reasons we don't have football at our school.... most of us don't want it, there's no real viable option of a place to play (tho with the new stadiums & fields around the Diamond being built, they could've factored that in, if we had plans to play football anytime in the near future)..... BUT you know what probably, the biggest reason we don't have football is?....... We don't have the funding to support it! And unlike our former rivals down in the 757..... we're not willing to kill our solidly successful basketball program just to try and start a football team.

Wolfpack still donates & supports the program because he cares about it & wants it to succeed. If he didn't care about the program, or didn't want to see it succeed... he wouldn't donate to the program AND he probably wouldn't waste his time complaining about issues that he sees. Or he'd do what everyone accuses DL of doing 95% of the time & start trolling our fan base on these message boards just to get everyone riled up.

Exactly.

Seth Davis has a great Q and A about the latest CBB landscape development.

One of the biggest...a possible collective bargaining agreement between college players and the NCAA..

Plus the fact the G league players can play as long as they've never played in college before

That's on top of NIL agents, GMs, Revenue sharing.

Aside from the Billion dollar owners...how much more pro can you get?

When I was growing up in Richmond in the early 2000s, VCU still was a curse word. Crazy the change that the university and the city experienced in the first quarter of the 21st century. Pretty cool to be part of the ride.

Respect to all the coaches that came before but it's hard to argue that Shaka was the best VCU coach of all time. He should've never left but that's another conversation all together.

But if we were UNO, we'd have Master P as our president of basketball operations and that counts for something, right? Right? 😒

With

holes in the sneakers, a thin layer of cardboard keeping my bare barely freezing feet from freezing.
I'm a Gen-X'er, not a Boomer... But true story, I did inpatient pediatrics at MCV during the snowstorm of Janary 1996, and I really did get a hole in the sole of my shoe due trudging all over campus with the snow, ice, and salt on the streets. I didn't have time that month to go get a new pair of shoes.... so....

UNO had their chance to shine in college basketball. They were a founding member in the Sun Belt Conference, and a member when VCU joined. Vic Bubas and the Sun Belt Conference instituted a requirement that all Sun Belt schools had to play in arenas that had a minimum capacity of 10,000. The only arena that fit that bill in New Orleans was the Superdome. UNO later left the Sun Belt due to that minimum seating requirement.

Trivia fact. Both Benny Dees and Tic Price coached at UNO. Dees was there for two years and took UNO to the NCAA Tournament Second Round in 1987. Tic Price was there for three years and took UNO to the NCAA Tournament in 1996 and the NIT in 1997.

Other notable head coaches at UNO include Butch van Breda Kolff, Tim Floyd, Monty Towe and Buzz Williams. UNO does have some history of success in men's basketball. They actually won the Sun Belt Tournament in 1978.

I'm glad I took the time to read this. I usually skip long posts haha. I might be accused of sunshine pumping at times. Anyone can say anything they want, but in my view longtime donors' (I am not one) concerns should be considered.
