Update on Michael Bradley

Sounds like we're back in - if we were ever out. That Goodman guy doesn't look all that bright. Maybe he was duped or misunderstood.

or maybe oh i dont know, bradley just waffled after he spoke to the guy. not like a 17 year old has never changed his mind or timetable before.

"I was going to, but I don't know anymore," he said by phone this evening. "I might wait about a week."

Bradley, who has whittled down his choices to UConn, Drake and Virginia Commonwealth (with the first two seemingly in the lead), said he simply "wasn't 100-percent" with his decision quite yet.

Bradley, an excellent student who'd like to major in pharmacy, said that all three schools have pharmacy programs. His decision will simply come down to which school feels right.

That sounds like all three are still in the running, does it not? I hope we have the feel guys-Maybe not until next week-hmmm, 17 yr old could change his mine several times-stay on him Shaka Man.

Very well could be the case. That's why I wondered why everyone was so upset. Might as well wait until he makes it official before you jump.

Because inquiring RamNation minds want to know, I contacted the sports writer today that covers local bb and Bradley's recruiting for the The Chattanooga Newspaper

Mr. xxx[Ramjamfam to you],

Michael was planning to make his decision today, but I just don¹t think he¹s
ready yet. I spoke with Gerald Harris (Tyner¹s coach) and he believes that
it¹s going to be awhile. Drake and Uconn were going to be his final two
choices, but it just seems that a part of him is wanting the process to end,
but another part realizes this is a major decision for him.

Coach Harris mentioned a lot of schools still in the mix, including VCU,
Georgia and Utah, so I think it might be a few more weeks before he decides.

I¹m on top of his recruiting as best as I can be, and will keep you informed
< if nothing else, via breaking news on our website.

Please don't fill Gene's e-mail box with inquiries. I'm sure he will print the latest ASAP, and we can all follow as interest dictates at web site above. Hope this helps.

well technically if we want to go on that basis nothing is official until they enroll in school next August since the verbal isnt anything until the LOI is signed and that isnt even guaranteed until they enroll.

Our coaching staff is absolutely relentless in their recruiting efforts and will not give up on a recruit they want and they know will fit our program until it's over. The fat lady ain't sung yet, it ain't over yet.

Strong work RamJamFan...interaction with an actual sportswriter on the ground in Tenn.

doesn't sound as dire nor as hopeful...either way it's gonna give Shaka and Co. a chance to stay in his ear. It is a big decision...It's good to see he appreciates that and is treating his recruiting as such.

When did Utah enter the mix? You know if he doesn't visit BC he still has one official visit left. Maybe that's the delay, Utah joined the mix late and he's thinking about a visit?

I've made a decision I should've made a long time ago. "A watched pot never boils." I'm not following this saga anymore (at least as closely ;) ), whatever happens, happens.

I agree with you Chill. It seems like we are so focused on "getting Michael", myself included that we may be losing focus. Mel Basabe and Cady Lulanne are very talented.

Let's not forget that If you get kids with potential and talent mixed with the right coaches and situation they will blossom, i.e. Maynor, Sanders, Skeen (this year) and countless others. We need to just have complete faith and trust in our coaching staff, that no matter who commits to us that they will be able to develop these young men into skilled winners.

After all, VCU Athletics has become skilled at obtaining great coaches who develop great players over the past 7 years and nothing will change now.

If I were Michael, Mel or Cady I would ask for my coach or someone whose "life doesn't depend on it" to help with the decision. If I am their coach/parent I would have to point the kid at a school that truly focuses on academics, graduates their students, will allow the kid to play!!, and have a shot at the NBA or playing pro overseas.

Michael, Mel and Cady will all get these opportunities if they choose VCU.

Really?

I think what he means is that the verbal is non-binding the LOI is quickly becoming almost non-binding, since schools are under enormous pressure to release players from their LOI if they decide they want to leave (i.e., Eblen).

With as often as these kids change their minds, and unscrupulous coaches continuing to recruit and call them after they sign an LOI, you really can't count on anything being truly official until they enroll for classes.

As of Wednesday morning, Michael Bradley has still not chosen a school.

“He has not made a decision yet,” said Chattanooga (Tenn.) Tyner Academy coach Gerald Harris.

The 6-foot-10 Bradley is considering UConn, Drake and Georgia, Harris said.

“I think the date was yesterday and he decided to extend it,” Harris said.
