UT-Arlington G Phillip Russell Officially Signed to VCU

You all may be ok with such a technical because it was at the end of the game but had it occurred in the middle of the game, I know it would be a different story from many of you.
Well yeah, the context would be completely different. A dunk in the middle of a game is a dunk. A dunk with 2 seconds left on the clock in a guaranteed win is disrespectful to the opponent and is one of those unwritten rules in sports. You see guys at every level getting heated when it happens. I’d be more concerned if he didn’t care.

I'm not talking about the dunk. I did not mention the word dunk in the statement you posted. I only stated the hard hit technical. You need to focus on the actual point of the sentence I posted.....reading comprehension.
I am talking about the hit. The dunker did not get a technical. I am talking about such a technical in the middle of the game, regardless of the reason why would not be met with such joy with rams fans. You know it and I know it. End of discussion.

GCU is not a real school so that fight should not count

Their UG seems to be fine, all their issues have been with their PhD programs.

If Liberty and Regent are real, then so are they.

Hey, the kid wanted to put an exclamation point on the game, Russell wanted to strike through it. I have no problem with it.
I've got a bit of problem with it. Shut up. Don't go after opponents physically unless you're defending yourself. Don't get techs. If if was a blowout and you object to somebody throwing one down in the final seconds, don't get blown out. I don't blame the winning team for playing hard to the final horn. If you want to show sportsmanship, the coach can empty his bench, but I'd still want everyone out there playing hard.

Fire is great, but discipline has to go with it. Techs on players are nothing but unforced errors.

Sure, a totally different situation would receive different feedback.

His former teammate Kern seems to like the pickup:

I generally agree but that's not "playing hard to the final horn," that's piling on when the game has been decided, which is definitely not sportsmanship.

Would I advise the players on the losing team to just let it go? Sure, sitting on my couch watching the game on TV that's an easy call. If the kid wanted to shove it in their face and he took offense to it. If you ask would I rather have players who didn't care versus letting the kid know it wasn't cool disrespecting them? In that situation I'll take the tech.

But please don't try to sell that last dunk as having anything to do with "playing hard to the final horn."

But I also know this is a bad look because if this had happened to Mo when he stole the ball and slammed it home in the last second of the UR game when we were way up and a UR play ran into him like Russell did or threw the ball at Mo like the other player, we would still be talking about to this very day and would be all pissed off about it. Many of us older folk still give Tony Skinn crap for his "punch you in the balls" hit job..........perhaps he has a little "dog" in him too but we don't look at it that way do we?....no we don't.
Actually, I cringe EVERY time one of our players do that, whether taking an unnecessary three or an unnecessary dunk instead of running out the clock.

What I also hate is when teams are behind big and continue to jacking up threes and pressing on defense, but expect the winning team to just lay back in the closing minutes. I also think there's a difference between the last few minutes and the last few seconds.
