UVA 2-0 in ACC with win over #18 GT

I know some folks were talking about UVA earlier in the season and how they suck. Don't look now but UVA is 2-0 in the ACC and 10-4 overall after beating Georgia Tech tonight and NC State in their first ACC game. Tony Bennett is already making a difference in the 'ville.

who? oh, one of those teams that won't play us. F them.
 
It's possible to be a fan of one team and not necessarily hate every other team in the state of VA. Sometimes that is actually enjoyable as well. For example, I was a UVA fan as a child, way before I was a VCU student and fan. The first college game I attended was at U Hall.

We don't play in the same conference as UVA (not even close). We really don't recruit in the same circles - - they are going after top 100 national recruits and we are typically recruiting a rung down from that group. I am not sure why there is so much hatred toward UVA.

Also, if you were the AD at UVA, you wouldn't play VCU either. Absolutely nothing to be gained from playing lower-level mid-majors in-state and occasionally there could be a lot to lose.

plus, you seem to be saying that VCU is a "lower-level" mid-major... not just mid-major, but a lower level one... really?

So I guess you feel like you're slumming by being a VCU fan then? ...thanks for stooping down to our level I guess.

they (meaning rambunctious) constantly talk bad about a first year coach and now this? can we send 'em back to UVA where they belong?

Hmm, UVA has four losses with three being to teams with an RPI outside of the top 100 while VCU also has 4 losses with only 1 being to a team outside of the top 100 (115). Yet Shaka is an awful first year coach even though he is at a low level mid major while Bennett is doing a great job at UVA. We are about 50 spots higher in the RPI so I doubt that a game with VCU would drag them down. We would actually be the second highest rated opponent that they have played so far.
 
I grew up in Charlottesville and if there is one thing I know about UVA its that they will get your hopes up.

let me know when they are 10-0 in ACC play. They haven't done much yet by my standards.
 
I am not going to discuss Shaka - - decided to keep my opinions to myself as it relates to what kind of job he is doing (you're welcome). My post referenced Bennett, not coach Smart.

Didn't mean that VCU is a lower major, but that there's a pretty big disparity between the majors and the mids and we are clearly not a rival to them - - I don't get the dislike for that program like I get the dislike for UR and ODU.

Some of you need to take your PMS meds :lol:
 
F UVA, and the whole ACC, and all BCS schools, but especially Charlottesville U.

Yes it referenced Bennett, but I just don't understand how you can praise him yet say the things you have said about Coach Smart. Bennett has a ton of experience, his expectations should be much higher, yet their results have been very similar so far. If any thing Shaka has the better record.

VCU fans dislike UR and ODU because we play them, however many also dislike UVA and VT because they won't play us. It also has to do with bragging rights within your circle of friends. We can brag if we beat UR, or beat ODU, but since there is no opportunity to do that with VT or UVA you just kinda have to hope that they lose every game. We do go after many of the same recruits, but that is not really the reason. It is not like they are Duke or UNC, UVA and Tech aren't a huge deal in the recruiting world. I understand why you like UVA based on your story, but you won't find many other VCU fans that feel the same.
 
the hooz managed to beat UNCW by 2 points at JPJ.... so, congrats to them I guess? :?

:lol: same W squad that we waxed at home. Doesn't say much for the ACC this year.
 
Yeah, we can beat them. Whether it be at the Stu or the JPJ. (And I made sure the JPJ would be jinxed if we ever played them there. :lol: )
