News VCU Athletic Village

Same. Was kinda wild to me that they got I'm assuming soccer fields in there before so many other things. Guessing that the Phase 1 Athletics Fields and track part, assuming they are sticking to the timeline of these pics. Looking forward to seeing the indoor tennis facility rise and the soccer stadium. Gonna enjoy watching soccer games in the future without a track around the field. Gets ya closer to the action. Will be a fun little facility. View attachment 15038View attachment 15039
Gonna be great.

Yeah now Gif will definitely hear the frustration when we lay an egg in a big game again with a fans so close 😆

The stadium lights for CarMax aren’t even installed yet.
I believe he's talking about the lights at the site of the Village practice fields/track complex. Those light stands are up. It's my understanding the lights from The Diamond are going to be relocated to CarMax.

So VCU won’t have any night games next year at the Diamond then?

Found out something interesting after talking to Giff Breed, owner of the Independence Golf Course who is the proposed developer of the World Class Crossing Golf Course near me. The intention according to him was that it was to be a part of VCU Athletic Village and home of the VCU golf team. According to him after long negotiations, VCU backed out and it is at a standstill. I never knew this. Anybody else?

not aware of any of this but the question I would have is" how much money were they asking from VCU as a contribution to redevelop the Crossings Golf Course and allow VCU access etc

"OPM -Other Peoples Money" is what developers love when they do development and they get paid FIRST their fee whether or not it succeeds

no debating VCU would benefit from a golf course closer to campus that was a quality layout etc.. but at What Cost for 6 or 7 athletes in a sport that really doesn't matter to VCU despite the players that became PGA pros that have played at VCU in the last 4 decades - not a shabby list either

We can pay Westhampton $50 a year and play at Pitt Field.

You are probably joking, but playing at Richmond the second half of the season honestly may have to be an option that is considered if it hasn’t been already. I think VCU can play at the Diamond the first half of the season but not the entire season.

I'm joking about paying $50, but we could certainly play there for a fee as long as the schedule works out.
