I guess fans will need to walk through Sports Backers Stadium to get to Car MaxIf we are going to start playing D1 sports at our competitors venue than we need to shut the program down..we have already become non competitive…this is a joke

I never thought I’d see a more screwed up VCU baseball home game situation than a tornado knocking down the outfield wall at The Diamond and forcing the 2005 home games to be played at Petersburg Sports Complex. But here we are. The athletic department has really screwed this one up.If we are going to start playing D1 sports at our competitors venue than we need to shut the program down..we have already become non competitive…this is a joke

That's one of many questions I have and I sure hope we get some answers because if this whole thing falls flat after seemingly having a ton of momentum for a while, a LOT of people aren't going to be happy. What is the hold up with selling Sports Backers?
Women's Volleyball? This doesn’t look good for everyone involved, given how long and arduous the stadium process has been. So much for the fake cooperation.
What is VCU thinking? Gonna have the Servpro floor crew prep the field at the Diamond and bring some rental lights in?!
Baseball was an embarrassment last season and now this?
Combined with the continued subpar women’s basketball program, our next most prominent sports after men’s basketball are in need of a makeover.
I dont think there is anyway we can afford a facility for baseball at this time. My guess with NIL and the money the basketball programs consume vs the money we generate, I think we are in a tight spot financially. I think the Squirrels wanted somewhere near $700k per year. I think we were paying less than $100k for the Diamond. That is not that much money but given Title IX implications, rising costs and NIL, I do not think we have alot of additional monies to allocate to mens baseball. We do have a sport we can drop. If I was running the AD, given the size of the roster and facilities expense of baseball - i would be looking at all options to reduce cost.So are we just playing hardball with the squirrels/city to negotiate a better lease deal, knowing that holding the deed to sports backers is a pretty major bargaining chip? Or is there a legitimate plan to build our own baseball park?

The agreement between VCU and the Squirrels to share the new ballpark collapsed today. VCU Baseball is now without a home field for this season, at least for most of it.
College baseball is very underrated. When it's at peak its as exciting as anything.Look at the bright side. This is the most publicity VCU baseball has received since .... well, since ever.

Tell the truth. With the possible exception of a U.Va. appearance, how many of you have actually paid for a ticket and watched a Rams' baseball contest at The Diamond?
I'm guessing no more than one percent of VCU students/alumni have witnessed a game.
Add to that ... witnessed any game other than men's basketball?
That said, loved watching side-arming Cla Meredith .... once he got to big leagues.
