VCU Athletics Video: Catching Up With Eric Maynor

Wonder how "the kids" feel about working out with a VCU legend and NBA player?

Check out this team. A twitter message from Coach Smart.

With Larry and Eric in town, I'm hearing the alumni team at pick-up is tough to handle. Maynor, Sanders, Pella Rosa, Shuler, and Gwynn!

Mrs. Pav just asked if we could go watch that game, I have to agree, it would be fun.

Eric Maynor scored 1,953 points during his time at VCU including the game-winning basket that knocked Duke out of the 2007 NCAA tournament.
VCU legend, Eric Maynor, has reportedly just signed a deal with Openjobmetis Verese of Italy’s top pro league, joining the likes of Bradford Burgess and Juvonte Reddic who currently compete in Lega Basket Serie A.

So is it safe to say Eric's days in the NBA are over?

Most likely yes, but the reality is that it is a small window for any player. I think that this move actually gives Eric his best chance to get back. He needs to play and his contract and salary requirements probably prevent him from the short term contracts this year. I see the possibility of getting his groove back this year and then being on a summer team for an NBA team over the summer and after that it just depends on his game and opportunities. But no, I think this is a good move.
