CONWAY, S.C. – For the second time in its first three games, the Virginia Commonwealth University men's soccer team has had to wait more than 100 minutes to learn its fate. However, a pair of overtime periods on Friday wasn't enough to declare a winner as the Rams battled Wofford College to a scoreless draw in the opening game of the Coastal Carolina/Adidas Invitational.
With the tie, VCU runs its record to 1-1-1 on the season, while defending Southern Conference champ Wofford is now 0-2-1.
"I was very disappointed in our performance today," said VCU Head Coach Dave Giffard. "We didn't concede a goal, so that will be our positive, but it is hard to take too many others. I will be very disappointed if our performance isn't significantly better on Sunday against Howard."
