Here we go again: should/could we consider a move to another conference; if so, what's possible. Most reasonable "potential" options include 1) A10, 2) Conference USA, or 3) altered/expanded CAA.
RamNation posts have discussed all options often, but for giggles here let's focus on A10. The A10, headquartered in Newport News, VA actually consists of 14 schools for men's bb: http://www.atlantic10.com/genrel/103009aac.html#.
This article in RTD outlining why our West End brothers at U of R left the CAA to join A10 does prompt reflection, even if debatable: http://www2.timesdispatch.com/rtd/s...etball/article/URBB02_20100201-212603/321632/
I prefer VCU in CAA vs. only us joining A10, which with our addition as is would really make it A15. I do not find most teams in the conference considerably more "appealing" to watch than the more local CAA teams. VCU moving just to enhance the possibility of obtaining an at-large NCAA bid holds little appeal to me, without other schools or other realignment. Pushing CAA to become better is more appealling.
If A10 dropped a few existing members and added VCU, ODU, GMU to arrive back to a total number of members at or below their present A14 number, then might it be worth considering? Football is a major wild card I'm not addressing, period.
This debate never ends, and won't this year. So win out Rams, until better options appear.
