Some of you I think are being unrealistic. With NIL in the mix, it is difficult for us to compete with most majors for many elite mid-major players. And to be honest, most elite mid-major players who are transferring are looking to make bank & they want a shot at playing for a major. It also worked that way even before NIL. They are very difficult to get....not impossible, but very difficult even if we can compete with NIL.
Now, we can compete pretty well for elite or very good low mid-major players. Some may want to try a mid-level just to a higher mid-major rather than being buried on the bench playing for a major. Some will jump directly to a major now (because they can transfer again without penalty back down). Some may only have a year left aren't sure if they will get playing time at a major....they my opt for a high-mid-major like us.
Then you have the former mid or low major who was pretty hot before transferring to a major where they got buried on the bench. They may look to transfer down. These are the kids we have a shot at (Bam is an example of this type of player).
Then you have the kids who jumped direct to a major because they had high ratings as a HS player and it didn't work out. Some will simply jump to another major hoping it was the school or coach that cause them to sit and not their talent or lack there of at the major level. Some of those however, will decide to transfer down to a mid-major. Those are the kids we can get.
Others we may have a shot at are former major players who may have been injured and/or been recruited over (Johns and Zeb) or they were getting limited playing time and thus decide to transfer to a mid-major (We have gotten a number of these types of players over the years)
Then we can look at grad players who may have had moderate success at a major but want more playing time for their final year......thus they may go to a high-mid major like us. Or other low, mid, high major graduates with very good playing ability but want an extra year and come to us because we have a good grad program for them.
