Vcu's student run tv show had a few clips about vcu basketball. They had a quick interview with Shaka but I missed most of that (maybe someone can fill in). They also did an interview with Larry Sanders. What I can remember...

Thoughts on Coach Grant leaving?
real tough at first but the team was very excited once Shaka arrived

How did you work on your game this off season?
I went to Amare and Lebron's camps, got some really good tips on my game , and it was really good to play with players from around the nation.

What do you think about this year's team?
Losing Eric is big, but we have alot of bodies and so much potential

Thoughts on Pros?
Haven't thought much about but..."I just play like nobody knows who I am"

I personally really like Larry quote there about the pros...

"the rotations will be crazy" was the quote I found most interesting. Sounds like Shaka is planning on throwing a lot of different rotations out there to make things less adaptable for the opponents.

Let's hope Larry stays for his senior year...we would be SCARY good if he comes back.

I know we can all dream what if, but as he is finishing his degree at the end of the academic year, and if his production this year, as well as his obvious potential continues to impress scouts the way it already has, it will be a long shot that he stays. 3 years of a player his caliber in the black and gold (or white and gold), and watching his development at the SC is great for us. Far better than the BCS level one and done routine.

As an educator I previously thought it was insane that the athletes so commonly leave college before finishing their degrees to head for the pros if that door is open to them, until I realized - nobody begrudged Bill Gates for leaving Harvard after a year (and not finishing his degree) to start that little company he is so well known for. If the rest of us can leave college early to "go pro" if the opportunity arises, we can't hold the athletes to a different standard.

I would be far happier to see Larry put up Blake Griffin-esque average numbers this year like those he had for the game Thursday night and go pro next year, than have him dissappoint and feel he has more to prove in NCAA and stay for his 4th year. He, like Eric, will be a great ambassador and example of what the Donte Williams of the world can achieve here...

Coach certainly demonstrated "a" rotation system against Virginia Union. There are going to be some crazy games if he continues this rotation system. Me thinkist it won't continue to that degree. I think he wanted to use very one to see what they can do.

I think we might actually see something similar to this most of the season. It's very difficult to play with this kind of system unless you have a lot of players to substitute in and out. Waves and waves of relentless pressure are what we want, and you have to have bodies for that.

db you seriously think we are going to have a 12 man rotation? I see what your saying but generally you have about 8, 9 guys you like and get most of the pt.

Definitely not a 12 man rotation...I would say 9-10 would make sense though. I mean look at how fast we are playing. Teams like Mason are talking about playing fast now...but we've been the one's doing it. Teams are emulating our style of play. People think our press was bothersome before; this press is Coach Grant's press on steroids.

so your sayin like ...
joey, gavin, Bradford, TJ, Larry
then...
theus, b roz, nixon, Kirill (I hate to say it...but I don't see Kirill fitting into the press as well...)

I am thinking 10 play, and sometimes 11 or 12:
Once every player is healthy these 11 guys will likely play each night (in descending order of minutes played)

Rodriguez
Sanders
Burgess
Skeen
Rozzell
Gavin
Nixon
Gwynn
Theus
Saintil
Pischalnikov

Sometimes Grayson or Daniels may get in to make it 12, but I see these two as not getting much time this year. Hinton may get some minutes early in the year as a big body but not later. My two cents is that I think we will go 11 deep most nights.
