VCU Media Mentions

Everyone really should read this:

https://vcuathletics.com/news/2024/12/2/mens-basketball-obis-okay-wait-is-over-for-vcu-forward.aspx

The fact that 12 - 8 ( 2-7) currently 17th place Nebraska have better odds of making the tourney as an at-large than VCU shows how messed up the new NET system is.

Nebraska is in danger of not even qualifying for the B1G tourney in the new format where only the top 15 teams make it.

Not to mention PSU who are basically in the same position as Neb.

Don't know where else to put this but there was a bad incident on Broad Street in VCU area last night. Driver fled the scene after hitting and seriously injuring a pedestrian (student I think), and other things, and has a lot talking about what can be done in that area as nothing seems to get done when these things happen. Seriously I don't know what else can BE done but from a streetwise city boy fan here, despite it not being enough to fully protect you, to warn my fellow Ram fans in here, watch your ass down there be aware 24/7 when anywhere near the street including sidewalks of what is going on, anticipate danger, and always be prepared to take evasive actions to protect your life, accompanying party, and property.

idk the details or if this applies in this instance at all, there should be no victim blaming; drivers need to be very careful and it’s on them to watch their surroundings, but vcu students need to be careful. a lot of them are coming from the suburbs and rural areas and have never lived in a city. there is a lot of walking when it’s not their turn, and i even sense an attitude about it. dirty looks at cars waiting to go when the students are walking on a green light. just be careful out there. it’s not a cool punk thing to not follow traffic laws and ultimately it will only hurt you. car beats pedestrian every time. my prayers to the victim though, and i wish them a speedy recovery. no driver should flee the scene and if i had to geuss they probably were drunk and driving like a madman.

I can attest first hand that I have encountered numerous VCU students crossing the street while obsessively looking at their phones. They are completely unaware of their surroundings. It's an accident waiting to happen.

Whoever did this was out of control and hopefully gets nailed soon. Not sure how it came off as such, but the above friendly warning wasn't all victim blaming, as yes, people that aren't streetwise need a good waking up. That's what this was.
