Here is a really good article that can tell you a little about what VCU is facing in the future.

“I think it’s only a matter of time until VCU has football,” he told an eager crowd of alumni at a cocktail hour at Independence Golf Club, “but as chief fiduciary, [I say we] can’t afford it now. When you decide to do football in a college environment, you need to do it very, very well. That does take resources.” And those resources are better spent toward academic goals, he adds.
But, he tells the alumni, “I will never say never — especially when all of you will come together and pay for it.”

What I want VCU to do is conduct a feasibility study....where to put the stadium, how much it will cost to start up, how much it will cost to maintain, how much it will add to student fees. This study should be conducted why the economy is bad because it is relatively inexpensive. Then when the economy gets back up on the upswing, VCU announces a "Campaign for Football" and receives alumni donations to get our football team started. This could happen right after the 50 million "Oppurtunity VCU" finishes.

What do you all think?

No need to do that yet knowing that we aren't ready for a football program. By the time we got to that point a study done in the current economic climate would be obsolete. What that quote from President does tell me is that football will either be done right or not done at all. My worse fear would be to jump into football without adequate planning and sink the entire athletics program.

100% agreement with VCU Finance. Anything Dr. Rao does will be done with quality. You can put your money on that.
