Recruiting VCU Recruiting

I think your absolutely correct. He is a 2026 prospect standing 6'10" 240 lbs. No stars at this point-in-time and best offer thus far appears to be ODU. A developing big who averaged 10 and 8 last season.

If you look at the Hopewell basketball X account, Radford/fur/JMU/Georgetown/VCU have all been to Hopewell High School since September 28th. It looks like VCU/Georgetown/JMU/fur were all there October 2nd.

I love how he is getting talented incoming freshmen while also signing players in the transfer portal. Nice that he is already balancing the roster with youth and experience.
I particularly like how Odom seems to be finding guys who are willing to buy into the program and philosophy. Makes it more likely that they might stick around for a while. Silas and his family seemed extremely excited to have the opportunity to play here.

Balancing a roster with youth and experience is great because the younger players learn. They know that their day will come when they lead the program.

I just hope that the new "no NLI needed" NCAA rule or lack of rule doesn't come back to bite us in the behind. I know it will likely have an impact on some programs moving forward as up and coming players jockey for position and NIL dollars. Also, with no NLI required, I wonder if schools/programs themselves will end up dropping fall commits for perhaps someone with more talent from the portal or HS ranks moving into the spring and summer. Or alternatively, other programs attempting to poach already committed players with NIL offers into the spring and summer.

This entire thing is a big cluster-uck if you ask me.

This. I know some people are infatuated with the Portal but you can't build a program on that alone. It's not possible. It's going to take a combination of talented freshmen, portal players, and International players to move the needle. Ryan gets it. They are doing a great job on the recruiting trail. I figured this years haul would be a mix of 50% freshmen and 50% portal.
