"Coach drew it up," Rodriguez said of VCU's final possession. "Four seconds is a lot of time, you can get a lot of dribbles. I just wanted to attack."

"It was a great game," said VCU coach Shaka Smart, whose team snapped a two-game losing streak and improved to 21-8 on the season. "When they put the BracketBuster concept together, that's the kind of game they wanted. Wichita State is as good as any team on our schedule."

"When Joey went to the line, I knew he would make them," Smart said.

Defnitely a foul. If you call a bogus three point foul on Burgess you got to call the obvious foul even if it determines the game.

Probably could have even called a foul on the floor prior to him getting the shot off. Ragland's arms were all over Joey's.

I was surprised they called it actually. You don't see the ref's make to many calls with less than 1 tick on the clock.

Glad he did though.

I would love to see up close video of that BS Burgess 3 point foul. I think he jumped straight up.

I watched replay during the game: He didn't touch him!!!!

we rewinded it back. In the camera angle they had it definitely looked like he never touched the guy. idk who in their right mind would call a foul on a 3-pointer in a very close unless they were sure.

Same exact play he ran against ODU at the end of the 1st half at Siegel. Nothing new here...

except joey got mugged on that play and the ref lost their whistle...

Glad the foul was called, because if not we would've had an entirely different reaction on here...as in "we have 5 seconds to go full court and get a shot and that's what we called?" Joey wasn't close to the basket and that shot had no chance at all. Plus the replays shown on ESPN made the foul against Joey look like a really questionable call. I suspect it was somewhat of a makeup call for the 3 pt shot foul on Burgess (which was laughable it was so bad).

Finally, WSU had .8 seconds to go full court and got off a much better shot than we did with almost 5 seconds -- great coaching at the end by their coach.

You guys remember that Greg Paulus flop?

LOL

I watched the replay on espn3 a couple of times. Burgess had his hand out the entire time but never touched Ragland. Ragland jumped into the air and completely faked it. heck he didn't even jump into Burgess(aka Kobe flop) when he shot it. Commentators said, "Ragland did a nice bit of acting to make sure the foul was called." Yeah, but the foul at the end was completely questionable and shouldn't have been called announcers?
