RICHMOND, Va. – On Friday, senior DeAngelo Wilson (Richmond, Va.) of the Virginia Commonwealth University men’s track & field team posted on his Facebook profile “There’s nothing like the atmosphere at the Penn Relays.”

The Penn Relays are in its 116th year and sees some of the world’s best athlete go through Franklin Field in Philadelphia and over 100,000 spectators.

Wilson’s classmate Kevin Brinkley (Richmond, Va.) (top) made sure at least some of those spectators now know the name VCU as he finished in the top-three in the college pole vault, breaking his own school record for the second straight week.

Brinkley cleared 16’ 6 ¾” to equal the height of LSU’s Thomas Reinecke and Joseph Caraway, but due to a jump-off, the VCU senior finished third.

Fellow senior Piotr Dybas (Jaslo, Poland) also had a strong performance, earning a top-10 finish with a time of 9:13.61.
