Just making sure everyone knows that the game on Saturday is at NOON!

There was some confusion on another thread, and we need to get a lot of VCU fans down to Williamsburg for this one!!!

I have no doubt that there will be plenty of VCU fans in Williamsburg on Saturday. We just have to make sure that they are there at 12 pm and not 7:30 pm. When you see everyone at the game tonight make sure they know this as well. Even if they are not going it will be on TV. Someone bring this post back up to the top after tonight's game.

Huge game, William and Barry don't have a RPI rank of 12 for nothing. This will be a tough test on the road. I have not seen them play this season. Why have they been so successful this season? good O or D? Size or speed?

Just stickied this one because we need to get AS MANY PEOPLE DOWN THERE AS POSSIBLE. I don't know how he's doing it, but Tony Shaver has got the Tribe on a roll this season...and oddly enough, yes, this game is a big game...and even more odd, I know it's early in the season but this would be a quality win for the Rams.

ROLL CALL????? (I will be at a wedding that unfortunately I won't be able to get out off...so I need everyone to scream twice as loud for me).

make that 4 times as loud, i'll be in the caribbean still.

back to drinking.

*hiccup*

GO RAMS

PS. I'm baffled at how William and Mary has been able to win like they have, playing essentially the same roster that saw them go 10-20 last season.

I hope our guys know how to attack the zone (without just living and dying by the 3)

well that rpi will fall some since they played longwood today.

The key question is, "Can William & Mary go 40 minutes at our pace?" If we can wear them out, we have a chance.

Well the obvious answer to that question is no they cannot, but they do a VERY good job of taking us out of our rhythm and slowing the game down....especially in games down there. We do have to do a very good job in halfcourt offense attacking the zone (they know they don't have the size or athletic ability to match us in a man so they don't even try). Perhaps more importantly we have to do an even better job in halfcourt defense and not let ourselves overload to one side and leave someone wide open on the perimeter. They will be very patient and work the ball around for an open look on every single possession.

I'm waiting for a couple sources to update numbers after last night's game. But looking at the numbers for both teams before last night, this is going to be a very interesting game. They were the #1 team in the country in offensive efficiency, which is basically the number of points you score per 100 possessions. My guess is they have an above average shooting percentage and limit the number of total possessions. Then we are one of the top defensive efficiency teams. This game is all about tempo.

As soon as I get some updates numbers I'll start a new thread. But again, by the numbers, this will be interesting.

We are currently first in the nation in 3 point % allowed at 16.9%. I think this will be key in playing W&M and Richmond to a lesser extent. Both of these teams have such good records because they can hit the 3, but if the 3's are limited they become very beatable. Of course we will have to hit our shots as well and focus on the fundamentals.

Yes, I know this about our 3-point defense, but you have to consider that we get a lot of teams in a rush - press them and take time off the shot clock, force them to play hurry up in their halfcourt offense, and they end up putting up ill-advised shots. W&M will not allow themselves to be pressured into doing anything faster than they want to do it. They will slow it down and will take a shot-clock violation or two over taking bad shots because they are in a rush.

Then again if we can get up early they will have to run some and that should play into our hands. If they get up early expect 4 courners type offense from them the rest of the way. We have a better team than them but they are at home, Shaver is a good coach and it is a league game. I will not make the trip but I will be glued to the TV.
