Will they be a better team than this years final four squad?

The thought of this makes me glad we redshirted Reco and Heath... good planning by Shaka to ensure we don't lose as many as the 4 we lost at the end of this season.

The question should be...could they get back to the Final 4? You could make the arguement that there were a lot of teams better than this year's Final 4 squad (see: Ohio State, UNC, Duke, etc), but we got there and they didn't.

Really hope these guys progress like they could, it won't hurt that we'll have 2 other guys (Reco and Toby) who have been at VCU just as long. So that's some serious experience.

Really hope we've landed some gems with Briante and Treveon (and who knows who else), and that team could be super talented.

Side note: I think Mason could have a Final 4 caliber team next year. They had a terrible game against Ohio State (much like we had a terrible game against Mason), but they are going to be in good position to do some damage next year...(and heck, Drexel could be ridiculous next year, but especially two and three years from now). Haha, look out for the CAA March of 2014.

well honestly that happens every year. Good teams get knocked out early. They are only 4 teams in the final four so it doesn't matter if you have 68 amazing teams, we still only have to play 4 (or 5) of them to get to the final four. If we had to play duke then kansas then unc then ohio state we would of never made it.

I am not sold on Drexel ever being any more than just solid. I can't think of a single program, especially a non-power 6 team, that has had any real success with a coach that has a demeanor like Bruiser's. (Some power-6 can get win on talent alone). Bruiser will forever hold that program back, because he puts himself above his team. Through the years, how many stupid technicals has this guy got that cost his teams games? He doesn't give his players any freedom. I imagine they play very tight. It seems like every timeout he gets up in at least one player's face and totally belittles them.

Just based on what I've seen, DU will probably always be solid on defense and therefor be close in winning in a lot of games. Will they ever be very good? With Bruiser - doubtful.

I think Mason and Drexel will be really tough next year. Two physical teams returning a lot of players who have played big minutes in big games. Both teams should be a handful to deal with.

I think people are going to get excited about Briante when they see him. Kid is really, really quick. Reminds me of some kid that I saw for VCU this year. Randy Burg? Brandon Burns? Something like that. Treveon's accomplishments have been documented. To do what he did over the past 2 years in the league he played in speaks voumes about his potential.

I think the ESPN guys lobbied for us to be in that bracket with a play in game against Pitt.

We don't have any player in the post as good as Skeen was this year and with as much D and O talent as Larry and Jamie had together, but the size and overall ability of DJ, Reddic, Houston, McCarter, etc. could be pretty tough for the Jr and Sr seasons. Might be the best mix of "big" talent we've had.

This is Toby's last season.

Reggie Okasa, Shawn Hampton, LF Likolitov, Matt Treadwell, Mark Jackson is a group that is tough to beat.

There are a lot of hot headed coaches who do just fine. Bruiser's issues are his team typically lack talent and are smaller on the inside than the better CAA teams. Bruiser is an excellent coach and gets more out of his players than many of his colleagues in the CAA. Yes, he is a hot head but his teams play with passion and even in down years they give us(VCU) a tough team.

No Bruiser wont hold them back. They should make the NCAA next year.

I am guessing he meant Heath. Basically we will have 5 guys with 4 years of experience even though only 3 of them will be seniors. That could be a darn good season.
