Just saw them play up here in NY for the first time a few weeks ago. AMAZING.

wow, with the exception of blink 182 and taking back sunday, that's a great lineup ...hmm, maybe not having a job lined up yet after the bar exam has a silver lining?

no doubt. i've seen them about 7 or 8 times at various spots, and their shows never get old. i remember seeing them at the black cat for the first time in DC back in early 2006, and thinking it was the best show i had ever seen. been totally hooked ever since. very nice guys too.

as for the lineup, it does look pretty good. i actually really dig the national.

xjohnx- i saw weezer about 6 years ago or so. i remember rivers cuomo acting like the biggest indifferent meanie prick on stage. the music was still good, but he acted like he wanted to be anywhere but on that stage. to me, that really takes a lot away from a show.

Yeah, i remember reading an interview with them recently, about that time they were under a lot of pressure from their label to crank out some albums so they basically put out poop to fulfill their contract, took a couple years off, and with the red album released it on their own terms. Things seem MUCH better now. (at least i hope so.)

a friend of mine got to be pretty good friends with Cuomo... perhaps starting from a rather groupie-type encounter, she didn't say exactly, and we other, not on the inside, friends didn't push it... but she hung out with him (plenty of pics as proof)for a while and was a pretty steady penpal/email/im buddy... she has since settled into a somewhat more grown-up life, but I believe they're still in touch to some degree... now she said he was actually really nice and that his bad rep was undeserved... idk, I think maybe he was just being nice to get some, but then again maybe that's just me projecting based on why I was nice to her ;)

The only problem with this show is: It's free. There will be waaaaay too many people there. To me, there is no way that the crowds at this thing could possibly make going worth it.

35,000 tickets available, presale tomorrow morning at 10 am.

Yeah, exactly. No way am I going somewhere with 34,999 other people trying to watch these bands.

plus, unless they've substantially changed it in the ba'zillion years since I went to a show there, MPP is pretty crappy unless you're in close, or unless you don't care about watching the show and just want to hangout and be a Frisbee/hackysack dillweed

True. I haven't been to a show there in probably a decade myself, but I never liked it as a venue either.
