I don't know how many Capitals fans are on here but everyone needs to know what the Caps have been doing this season. We have won 14 straight games (17 straight is the most ever in NHL history). 1st place in the NHL and leading the East by 14 points. It's hard to imagine that this would ever happen a few years ago. Lets give the Capitals some love. Ovechkin is leading the League in Goals, Points, and +/-. He put up a Hat Trick today against Sidney Crosby and his Pittsburgh Penguins, the Stanley Cup Champions last season.

It amazes me how the Washington Capitals are not being recognized by ESPN. Our coach, Bruce Boudreau, is arguably the best coach in Pro Sports today. He inherited a 4-16 team on Thanksgiving Day '07, a team that was at the bottom of the NHL, and took them to the Playoffs. He won Coach of the Year that year, even though he became coach 20 games into the season. Ovechkin has won the last 2 MVP's, lead the league in goals the last few season, most points the last few season, and just recently scored his 500th point in only his 5th season.

Lets give the Caps some love!!!

love the caps.

ovie has been as good as ever, and nicklas backstrom is slowly starting to gain recognition as one of the best centers in the league, if not the best. green has again been fantastic, and knuble was a great pickup.

that said, even though this streak has been awesome, i have some worries with this team. with such offensive firepower, they remind me a lot of the san jose and ottawa teams of recent memory that have had great regular seasons, but floundered in the playoffs because of a shortage of defense and goaltending. playoffs are all about the D, and i really thought the caps should have added a big time defender at the deadline. these 6 and 7 goal games just won't be as commonplace in the postseason, when teams routinely tighten up on D.

if varlamov can get healthy, i like our chances better. just don't trust theodore for some reason. i do like the caps chances to get to the finals this season, but it won't be as easy as some think. this team must play tough defense.

Varlamov should be back to 100% by playoff time. He's down in Hershey tryin to get better. Theodore has looked awesome the last few weeks, and I was callin for him to be cut after game 1 in the playoffs last year. We have great defensemen with Green and they can score at any moment. I do believe Semin needs to step up right now. I mean, we could have went to the finals last year with a Rookie Varlamov and he's only going to get better. I beieve the Caps have what it takes to brung the Cup to DC this season.

The trade deadline is March 3rd (I think) so there is still time for a deal. That said, this team is playing so well right now, that I don't know if you want to mess with the established chemistry. Backstrom is not a defenseman. The defense has been playing extremely well. Poti is having a career year IMO.

At least one team in DC isn't disgracing itself. 8-)

(Unlike the team that didn't have a real coach and the team with players who try to shoot each other  )

Way to represent DC Caps!!

Playing up in Montreal tonight at 7:30. Even being a casual hockey fan at best due to limited tv exposure for my Preds, I can't help but check up on the Caps' streak.

Montreal 6 - Caps 5 OT

Caps trailed 5-2 after 2 and came back to force OT. Even as the streak ends, they gain a point last night. Lets start another streak at Ottawa.

Rock the Red!

The Caps have lost 2 straight after tonight's loss to Ottawa. Varlamov got his first nhl start in a while after being called up from the ahl. Semin finally steped it up and posted a hat trick. Hopefully they can win against the Blues this saturday and enter the Olympic Break with a win and not a 3 game losing streak.

I don't know what the heck is going on with the Caps this season. One second they look great and the next I'm rolling my eyes at the TV as we get blown out.

The star players are being divas and they stopped listening to Boudreau. Hunter isn't doing any better as a coach though. We're barely in the playoffs if the season ended today.
