The coaches are still recruting like crazy trying to find a point guard...the kid we are after is "under the radar." A college coach (not one of our coaches) that knows the kid says he would step in and start for us next year (over theus). I don't know what the timetable is but we are in the mix. Don't give up hope yet. This kid is apparently a true point guard. the coaches will not give up on trying to find a true point guard. i will keep you posted !

Very veiled information. Does the "kid we are after" sport a name? Des your source not want to give it out? or do you know but you don't want to give it out on the burgeoning VCU Ramnation? The whole darn world will know in 24 hours if you post it here!

At least tell us of his rating on ESPN or his star collection on Rivals and Scout - - unless he is so under the radar that he doesn't show there.

Come on Shaka - - get in their and get us some PG action!

I'm usually a big fan of leaks like this, however in this case, with quality PGs being few and far between, I'd rather he keep his lips zipped until something official is announced. the last thing we need is for this kid to get ANY exposure before signing a letter of intent.

are we expecting something official soon? ;)

I wouldn't be surprised if Coach Courtney made something happen out of the DC area. A lot of talent in that area and I could see some hidden gems getting somewhat overlooked in that region.

The 15 May deadline is just for LOIs. You can have anyone you want come to VCU and enroll after that date, just can't annnounce it until they are enrolled. I think Antoine Willie was a late signee like that.

Flashback

Maynor's recruiting profile from 2005 http://scouthoops.scout.com/a.z?s=75&p= ... id=1423586

2 star prospect (no stars on rivals!) with only a handful of mid-majors offering at the time. I suspect our next recruit will probably have an equally so-so profile this late in the game. Which really means nothing (as we witnessed with Maynor).

I would be surprised if it was Green from DeMatha. He probably only saw minutes in half their games this year and that isn't a good sign since Josh Selby (Tenn. verbal) missed a good portion of the season. While we may be listed on recruiting sites for his teammate Victor, his list is growing quickly. He is moving to high major status with his performance this spring. UMD, NC State, Clemson, and Tech are pressing hard. I know there isn't a lot to judge these kids on, unless you have seen them, but outside of the high major kids the ESPN rankings are not a good measurement.

at this point I don't feel comfortable posting the kids name...I know this is a vcu board but anyone could be lurking...if you don't trust me then fine that's your problem...my source is a current D1 assistant college coach who has seen the kid play. the coach is familiar with VCU and said that he would definitely be able to start here next year...he would be our primary point guard accdg. to this coach, whom I trust. I just got info about this today so i will see what else i can find out...see my previous posts if you don't think my info is reliable !

I am surprised that the R T/D hasn't pressed Coach Smart for information about the vacancies. It seems as if we heard nothing from Coach since he signed. Maybe I am just impatient.

I don't think that any one is doubting that what you have posted is true, they just want more info. If you don't think that it is the right time to post that however is it probably best to err on the side of caution and not do so. Just keep us updated if you hear any thing new.
