What we need, soon

Pav, maybe you could tweet everything that goes on the white board if you are unwilling to run up and down the baseline so everyone can see it. I actually miss that the most from back when the students could sit on the sideline.

The first step to having 7,600 crazy fans at every game would be to have 7,600 fans at every game. Instead of trying to change the people that are already there do what you can to get more people to come out to the games with you and make them feel welcome. If every game is sold out then the casual fans who don't really care about the game will be weeded out and we will be left with 7,600 passionate VCU basketball fans.

Not a big fan of hating on the Rowdy Rams either. Even if they don't do any thing outside of the games (I personally don't know what they do) they come to the games and cheer and generate excitement. Why slight them for that? If you want to do something that they are not doing then get a group together and do it.

Too often we seem to forget that we all have a common goal here. We are all supporting the same team.

Well one thing I've noticed this year is a increased interest. There is definitely a huge amount of new people in the students sections. Obviously the sections aren't always synchronized well on chants as result but I love the attitude. Last year many wondered how even half the east side sat down during most games and this year the entire East side and part of the West side have been standing every game. The turn out for VUU was quite amazing honestly for a exhibition game.

As far as killing the balls/ bullpoop chants I have to agree with BoomShaka. Rowdies have been killing those chants this year. Or at least trying to kill them. Bullpoop has popped up a few times especially the Nevada game and a few Rowdies would immediately kill it. Of course the "you suck" at intros probably won't change anytime soon but it seems the balls chant is beginning to fade off. Unless I'm mistaken the balls part started the beginning of last season so it's good its almost dead after a year.

I like the bullsh!t chant as much as the next guy but the student section does it after every foul. Kind of takes away from the effect.

I know standard "oh my I can't believe I hear such things at a basketball game" response

This thread did not go the direction I intended it to at all. I suppose I sort of egged it on with my comment about the Rowdies, but I didn't mean any offense. I was just stating what I see at the games each week. I love that students get into the games. I get into them too (I've lost my voice at least twice this year already), and I probably own more VCU garb than should be legal, but I don't think cheering the exact same cheers play after play after play really does much for anybody. Variety is the spice of life, right? A school as diverse as VCU should be able to come up with something more creative than "Let's Go Rams..." Yeah, it's a staple of just about every game, but switch it up every couple trips down the court. That's all I'm sayin'!

Back to the original topic of the thread, any new cheer ideas?
