Where did Bradford and Gavin go?

I feel like Gavin has just fell off the map recently. He blew up for 20 on OU and where has he been since? The man has been hiding and even lost his starting spot tonight. And to a lesser degree but bradford past couple of games has been quiet. He didn't really do bad tonight but just didn't really do much. Usually he is good for 10 pts and few boards, assist, steals, blocks, but tonight (and obviously the W&M game) he seemed to disappear and not look for his shot.

I also want to say I do really like both of these players because they have had some great games for us.

UR's defense really limited our perimeter game for the most part, I think that part of Gavin's game is key to driving the rest of his performance.

Something has gotten into Gavins head, you see it on is face every time he comes out of the ball game. Its getting worse I believe. Until he gets that corrected, I believe it will be more of the same. Heard he took his mom's death hard. That might be part of it. But its a head game now.

Big shot Brad will be back, no doubt about that. This team is just soooooo loaded that not only one player is not going to shine every night.

They will both come around again but depending on how well Skeen gets back into the game, I expect him to take some of Burgess minutes and playing time. Gavin is still rusty and in an shooting funk right now and Rozell deserves to start and play more then he does. As long as they all contribute towards the team concept and win they will all be ok. From what I have read and heard Skeen can play the three or four but like Gavin will have some rust issues to deal with.

I also think this style of play, rotating so many players, going with the hot hand is a bit deceptive. We've had something like 7 different players lead our team in scoring in our 8 games. We're so used to seeing Eric come and and do that every night, but I just think what we have here is an old fashioned "team". Jay only played 14 minutes this game, and we only had one guy play more than 30 (Joey). I also don't think the starting gig really means much on this team (see: Nixon, Ed).

Fear not, Jay will get his...

UofR was outstanding on defense in the first half. Their defense had to hurt Gavin. But he will come around.

yeah I see what you are saying but when that one person goes off, I feel like a lot of other people shoot poorly. Like today TJ went off, but ed gavin, and brad didn't shoot very well. I feel like if one game we finally put it all together, we would be absolutely nasty.

Even though Brad's stats aren't as good as usual, he is still making good plays. His shot will come back, but with different players stepping up each night we won't need to rely on his points as much, but more so his smart plays.

Hopefully that will be in the CAA Final, and then carry over into the NCAA tournament ;)

Side note...had someone told me we'd start the season 6-2 and among our wins were Oklahoma, Nevada, Richmond, and Rhode Island...and our two losses were to Western Michigan and Willim and Mary...I would have thought you were from an alternate universe. (Man..if only we hadn't blown two 16 point leads in both of those loses...might we sniff a national ranking? I think so).

The W&M one really hurt, but we're in good shape.

Both of these players are playing within a team concept and are contributing in each game. Just because they don't have impressive personal statlines does not mean they are not playing well or contributing. Both played some excellent D at critical times and twice I remember Gavin using his sick crossover on either Anderson or Gonzalvez and blowing right by them. Both plays ended with Ram buckets by someone else. I also recall Bradford skying for a rebound in a crowd at an absolute critical point in the second half.

This is not about individual stats, it's only about team wins.

Brad is a solid player and has proven it time and time again. Gavin……….well........I'll just say the verdict is still out, however the rusty excuse has expired.
