Who does VCU least want to play in the Tournament?

I thought this would be a nice thread to divert attention away from some of the griping on the boards and get to some real basketball discussion. VCU is looking like a stretch for a top-4 seed and will likely have to play on Friday. Winning 4 games in 4 days is tough and has never been done. That said, I'm not sure I've seen a 5/6 seed in the CAA tournament as strong as VCU is. We have the depth and talent to be the first. Still a longshot to be sure, but entirely within the realm of possibility given the homecourt advantage of our fans and the proximity to our campus.

With that having been said, which team do you least want to play or avoid in the tournament if at all possible? I think we can beat any team in the CAA in Richmond but Northeastern scares the heck outta me. It's just a very bad matchup for us and it seems that they have our number as late. Of course they always say it's tough to beat any team 3 times in a season, but even then, I would be wary of matching up with them. I think they have shown that they are the league's best team in-conference. They gave us our lone home loss this season. They are a veteran team used to playing hostile environments with little fan support.

I'd be interested to hear the rest of RamNation's thoughts on this. I think we can take ODU, especially in Richmond, same for Mason, Drexel, and William & Mary. NU is a team I'm not so sure about.

I would have say Northeastern as well, but it's like you said about beating a team three times. We should have taken them at home and we blew it. I think if we see them in the tourny, we should definitely take them. As far as top seeds, I don't want to play ODU. I think the game was much closer than the scoreboard showed when played them at Siegel Center. They also will be bringing a large number of fans to the game so it should be two teams playing on an unfamiliar court with roughly an equal amount of fans and if we pull it off in Norfolk, we'll be vying for that third win over them. I don't like our odds on that matchup. As far as lower seeds go, Georgia State probably scares me the most and we'd be going for that third win as well.

NU. No question about it. Good shooting. Good rebounding. Good D. Good fundamentals. Senior leadership.

I'm hoping that Mason beats NU on the opposite side of the Bracket from us. That way we'll get to beat Towson, William & Mary, ODU, then our traditional beating of Mason in the final.

The good thing is, not one of the other 11 teams wants to face us!

Mason - we will get our revenge, and we still have the physiological advantage after last years CAA tourney

ODU - win or lose next sat, we will take them in the tourney

W&M - shouldn't of lost the first time, we got them in the tourney

Northeastern - had our number this year but it is so tough to beat a good team 3 times in a season. We should win, but 4 games in 4 days is real tough...

We have a physiological advantage? Do our players pump more oxygenated blood out of their hearts than Mason's do?

This discussion begins and ends with Northeastern. If they are still standing on Monday night though, I would love to be there to face them!

Well hopefully 4 of them have to do it.

I would agree with Northeastern as well. Not that we can't beat them, but we haven't proven that we can so far. It would be nice for one of the teams that matches up a little better with them (Drexel maybe) to knock them out. Although once upon a time I thought that W&M beating ODU would give us an easy road to the finals. It all depends on who gets hot, and making sure that we don't look past any one. I am sure that no one would have picked Towson as the team that they didn't want to play on last year, or even W&M the previous year but they were able to knock out some good teams.

Just busting your chops Dan!

It looks like the consensus so far is Northeastern by a long shot.
